Guest coydog316
I was just wondering how many of you all shoot traditional equipment? Do you shoot it exclusively, or do you still mix in a little compound? Another thing if you do shoot stickbows, what is your setup? I shoot a Martin X-200 with Easton arrows tipped with Muzzys. njbowhntr
I have been shooting a longbow for 2 seasons now. Last year I did hunt a couple of days with the compound, and even took a buck with it. This is going to be the first year that I will be exclusive, but I still own the compound. At present I shoot a Steve Welte "Deathwish" Longbow that is 64" tip-tip. It is set at 53# @ 28". I am hurling the Gold Tip Traditional carbon arrows topped with 125gr Montecs. Soon I will be shooting a Neil Jacobson's Bear Paws Takedown Longbow set up at 56# @ 28". My buck from last year:
JimPic
I hunt and shoot with recurves and longbows exclusively.I pretty much shoot Black Widow bows(both 'curves and LB's) with Easton aluminums tipped with Magnus Stingers 125gr or Razorcap 3-bl 125gr. I'm getting a custom 64" Northern Mist Baraga longbow,55#@27", that I ordered in May delivered this week
Tony
ive been playing around with a recurve for 4 years. i still shoot my compounds for hunting. i strickly use the recurve during my early season to try and fill my county doe tag. after the 15th of oct i strickly hunt with compound. but this year i have been working so much i havent had the time to use the recurve much at all for practice. 2 years ago i missed my chance twice at a doe from 10 yards and 20 yards. i was shaking so bad its a wonder i even got drawn back.. i might still get to use it this season if i get out and shoot a lot from now until oct 1st. i cant tell you how humbling it is to use a recurve. im used to pounding 3 inch circles out to 50 yards with my compound. but with a recurve i keep my shots to 20 yards and under and the same 3 inch groups. Shoot Strong Tony
