Rhino
Hunting is one of the few things I don't budget for at all. Many other things I do but not anything related to my hunting and preseason preparation for hunting. If you include, food for every trip, drinks, fuel, ATV-camphouse-auto (OJ stays at the camp)-etc. insurance, repairs to equipment, hunting camp upkeep & taxes, annual dues for hunting clubs (2), annual out of state trip expenses, depletable items (like unscented cloths wash, scents..etc.), new gear, replacing worn out gear......and the list could go on if you really think hard about it; I've easily been in 5 figures with my annual hunting related expenses every year for at least the past 15 years. How far into 5 figures?...I'll never tell or even try to figure out exactly. I really don't want to know what that total $ figure is. Looking forward to many more memorable hunting experiences in the future that quite frankly I consider priceless.
Guest doublelung45
The More I Make....the More I Spend On Hunting A friend and i had a long conversation about this topic one night when he was trying to convert me to a mathew's guy and I brought up price. And he made many valid points but one stuck out in my mind. He said, "when you figure out every dollar you spend on bows, equipment, tags and hunting in general it equal out to pennies a day when its a way of life like it is for us... Think of the times you are at work thinking about hunting memories or think in the distant future when, god forbid, you are to old to make it to your stand and all you have is memories of hunts." That put a few hundred extra dollars in perspective for me. But on the other hand its easy for him to say because he has more money than me. I spend a good portion of my income on hunting and outdoors when you consider equipment, rounds of video archery, 3-D shoots, gas, tags, taxidermy bills;), trail cams, stands....on and on. When it all boils down I say this...IF I MADE MORE MONEY, I WOULD SPEND MORE ON HUNTING.

txsbuda
Thanks to my buddy who lets me hunt his land, I've been able to keep expenses relatively low. However last year was the first year I got a trophy. It's a nice 13 pt. buck. That being said, I did not realize at the time that when I pressed the trigger, the price went up. I have quotes from several taxidermist and they are all over $600. Good thing I have a nice big freezer. He'll get mounted one day. lol. Guest ib4au
I tell ya, I don't know what some of you guys do for a living, but I need to put in some applications with ya'll. I could see spending the cash maybe once in a blue moon for a nice rifle and treestands- but every year? Wow. I love hunting just as much as the next guy, but there's no way I could or would spend that kind of money on hunting. And before ya'll ask-no, I'm not a female. jbeck
If I count the $800 I spend every month for the morgage on the property I hunt, I'm over 10k. It's a good investment, but it does cut down on the availability of any trips in the near future. LOL

wildthing
Thousands...and still growing! Looking into a new 4x4 quad this year. Bought a new truck last year. On a particular hunt last year, my brother was in the tree with me. To pass the time, we added up the $$$ spend on what I had bought that year that was in the tree with me on that day...$1300 and some change was the total...we laughed and hunted... I work hard for the money...it's my money to play with!
