Well yesterday I went out to check my trail cams after work. I am always really careful about snakes in the area I walk through to get up there because it is prime copperhead country for our area. I never step over an abject such as a rock I always step on it and look down on the other side to make sure I am not going to step on a snake...well as I was looking up into the field where I though I heard a deer the one time I didn't look and stepped right over a rock my foot landed right on a copperhead! He whipped his head around and bit my boot right about my ankle...needless to say that scared to crap out of me and I felt like I jumped 20 feet in the air lol. I was pretty mad at myself...I have been in the woods every chance I get since I was a kid and have ran into many snakes but never actually been careless enough to step on one but can assure you that will not happen again...anyway poor mr. cooperhead went on the meet Jesus and I went on to check my cameras :D

It is getting close to the time of the year when they get a little more aggressive too. Fall and spring, they seem to be more likely to be cranky. Cannot be too careful in areas where they are. Here it is very common to see copperheads and cottonmouths going to check cams and walking to and from stands.

Hope you were wearing snake boots. I wear them all the time when I go into the woods from the start of spring turkey season to bowseason. Doing that I rarely bother looking for snakes anymore. I haven't stepped on one this year...yet but I sure have before. Makes my hair stand on end every time too. It's never startled me enough to soil my shorts though. :D

Sounds like adult size diapers might be on Andrea's list of things to wear when going in the woods. :p:D
