carbonhunter
Okay guys I've talked to Life and Tominator, but i guess i should get things rolling. I was thinking that we could meet and do some steelhead fishing up on lake erie, that way we would all have to commit to the drive up there and such. There are several options as what to do, meet for a big dinner or such the night before and the people who want to fish can stick around and fish, anyone else can head back home. Im going to do some looking around. for resturants and such that would cater to a fairly large group of guys. Another option to give some thought to is a group upland hunt at a preserve. I can do the research but this post is just a feeler to get an idea about how many people would be interested. lets hear some thoughts guys I mean come on everybodys doing it man!! p.s. could a mod. please pin this up top. thanks! carbonhunter
Re: Ohio/PA Rodeo ya that was my thought as well, and i know some other guys who are up for it or i would like to get up there to try it. But without this getting pinned up i dont see anything happening, Im shooting for late feb. if its gonna be a bird hunt, or late march eraly april for the steelhead. on another note what does the chagrin look like now that mother nature did the right thing and knocked that stpid low head out???? should be interesting to see what happens to the fishery
Tominator
Re: Ohio/PA Rodeo Nut had an idea back a few months ago that all the Ohio boys and girls meet down here at Delaware State Park for a rabbit hunt/lunch. I know that leaves the PA boys and girls out, but that's what Fred was thinking. Anyway, you know I'm in, and I think I can haul Tom out there if I pout enough. The one problem I see going between two states is non-resident license fees. Personally, I don't think there will be too many guys that will pay the non-res fees here, and vice versa, but I may be wrong. Git 'er done! Nut
Re: Ohio/PA Rodeo Yea I had a ideal a couple months ago and then other things were set in motion that I could not follow through. But I would be willing to do whatever I could to make a trip somewhere.

MichiganHuntr1
Re: Ohio/PA Rodeo Could a Meech agan person go, im right near the ohio michigan border, and lake erie isnt too far away?
carbonhunter
Re: Ohio/PA Rodeo the 19.00 doller three day fee isnt too bad, and i bet you out of state boys will wish you had a year around license after you experiance the fishing....../..Im going to pursue this one and look up room rates or find a camp ground in the area. This could be a good time for everyone to meet and get some fishing/bs'ing done. Any member is welcome of course, I just figured the oh pa boys would give me the most responces. If you guys still want to rabbit hunt im only a pm away.

Ohiobucks
Re: Ohio/PA Rodeo Sounds like a good idea to me. I am in, but it depends on the dates. We will be moving into our new house sometime in February, so we will see. March/April timeframe works for me.

muggs
Re: Ohio/PA Rodeo Aaron, the spring walleye run is a blast. The best part is their easy to catch, you don't have to be a professional. Plus, there's a lot of cheap lodging in the area.

MichiganHuntr1
Re: Ohio/PA Rodeo Ha! The Maumee is like 15 minutes from me, and like ten from Fred (Nut). That is super close.
carbonhunter
Re: Ohio/PA Rodeo Well either way I'm getting a room for the night so it dont matter much. Whats a fishing trip without consuming copious amounts of adult beverages after wards.........
muggs
Re: Ohio/PA Rodeo I've only done it a handle full of times, but have always got my limit. The rigs are simple: Floating jig heads (can be found at GM and Cabelas) Plastic Grubs All you have to do is rig it like a Carolina rigged plastic worm. I normally fish current and let the rig drift down stream, bouncing it off the rocks. Bring a lot of tackle, snags are common. And you will catch your fair share of Buffalo Suckers. The areas has many cheap hotels.
RDNKHNTR77
Re: Ohio/PA Rodeo I live about 10 minutes from the lake in northeastern OH. I would love to do some steelie fishin with some more experienced guys because me and my buddy go a lot but would like to learn more about it. I know a few good restaurants that would cater to a big group. There is also plenty of lodging near Fairport Harbor and/or Geneva, those r the main places. I would also be game for walleye fishin or bird huntin.
Nut
Re: Ohio/PA Rodeo People start hitting the river almost at the beginning of March. The run gets good once the water temperature gets to what the walleys need. Usually(I think) the run gets going late March and early April. If this is what y'all would want to do I will check on what kind of accomadations are needed.

Tominator
Re: Ohio/PA Rodeo I'm not Nut, or Fred, but I graduated from UT and lived in Perrysburg for a year before moving down here, and that Dundee Cabelas is probably about 1/2 drive from toledo, probably less. Fred probably has it down to the minute, eh Fred?
Ohiobucks
Re: Ohio/PA Rodeo [ QUOTE ] and that Dundee Cabelas is probably about 1/2 drive from toledo [/ QUOTE ] 1/2 what? 1/2 an hour? 1/2 a mile? 1/2 a taco? 1/2 my attention span? 1/2 a day? (I could go on and on.......) Count me in for a walleye fishing trip. Can't beat the taste of fresh walleyes!
