(I could go on and on.......) Count me in for a walleye fishing trip. Can't beat the taste of fresh walleyes! [/ QUOTE ] My bad, 1/2 a taco. 1/2 hour actually. Nut
Re: Ohio/PA Rodeo Cabela's would not be a bad little drive from Maumee. It is off exit 17 on Highway 23 which makes it about a 20 minute drive (with lights) for me. There is a place right on the river that allows for campers.(Buttonwood access) I do have a pop up which I could put there for use. It could sleep 4 people or more (Tominator and ohiobucks could be bunk buddies )

I have family in Monclova, Watertown, Maumee, Perrysburg and some other places I'm probably missing--I think I can arrange some lodging better than tents. muggs
Re: Ohio/PA Rodeo man this thing really took off while i was gone. I'm up for camping or like I said lots of cheap hotels in the area. I'll bring the poker chips so I can take all you guys' money while I'm at it. Fred is right, the run starts in March but really gets going in Aril, depending on water temp and water level. I know some good areas to fish, and it sounds like Fred can help with that too. The walleye run is a lot of fun, I experienced it for the first time last year and have been looking forward to it ever since. I say we make this happen for sure. muggs
Re: Ohio/PA Rodeo yeah, I was thinking the same thing. The first week of April might be our best bet, if there are no other schedule conflicts.
carbonhunter
Re: Ohio/PA Rodeo Sounds like a plan to me....... I may bring the Yaks up for some fun, get over those deep holes. muggs
Re: Ohio/PA Rodeo As Fred's pics suggest, it gets crowded but I never had any trouble finding open water to fish. The area around Bluegrass Island has always produced for me. The River narrows there and funnels the fish right to ya. Here are some link so you guys can read up and see what you think. Seems to have less of a crowd. http://www.maumeetackle.net/id45.htm http://www.dnr.state.oh.us/news/mar03/0313walleye. htm http://www.dnr.state.oh.us/htdocs/news/mar04/0326walleyerun.htm
Tominator
Re: Ohio/PA Rodeo [ QUOTE ] Here are a couple pics of the run and what it looks like at certain areas [/ QUOTE ] I proposed to my wife on that bench that appears in the first picture. OK, not really, but I have sat on that bench. That's at that one metro park I want to call Side Cut, but I don't really remember the name of it. There's probably at least 1 or 2 pounds of lead of mine right where those dudes on the left are fishing. The river is way down in these pics. Nut
Re: Ohio/PA Rodeo Chris, you are right about the name of the park. We can make the dates either of the first 2 weekends of April and should do fine. You could come early on a weekday and avoid the crowds during the day and do well. I also think the thread should be changed to include Michigan and Indiana as the Maumee is located a couple hours drive at most for them also. That island to the left used to have a fair amount of deer on it, don't know if that's the case anymore. It's a pretty park.
muggs
Re: Ohio/PA Rodeo Chris, that island is still loaded with deer, I've bumped up at 3-4 everytime I've walked on it.

Nut
Re: Ohmipain Roundup I can not edit in this room. Only the lounge mods are able. I am going to see what the costs are for the Buttonwood campground are and will notify who would be willing to stay there. Then I will check on what motels hotels and etc are close.
