buckbuster11
Out for the season that is. I know this has to be hard for you muggs....... Greg Oden , the Portland Trail Blazers' No. 1 pick in the 2007 NBA Draft, will miss the 2007-2008 season after knee surgery on Thursday, two league sources told Yahoo! Sports. Oden, the 7-footer out of Ohio State, underwent exploratory surgery on his right knee on Thursday in Vancouver. The extent of the damage was not immediately clear, but Oden, one of the most celebrated young players in years, will be lost for the season. The Blazers are expected to make an announcement shortly. Ohiobucks
Portland knew this going in. Oden had to wait to get a contract with them so he would be eligible for their medical insurance coverage......this is standard procedure for any mega giant superstar entering a sport.
muggs
I could care less. I'm not really even a fan...I root for anything OSU, but this kid could have played for the Russian National team and I still would have said he deserved to go #1 over the runt Durrant...which I was right on the money about predicting. Anyway, I'm sure since he's 20 years old he's way past his prime, he'll never be able to recover from this!!!! He'll come back, all while Durrant gets pushed around this year. Again, you and toddy only allowed your own perceptions of what I was thinking to get in the way of reality...if you read the words, the reality is there in black-n-white...pun intended. You are right about that one man. Only you, me, everyone else here, and 99.8 % of America predicted that. Way to give yourself credit for that one. buckbuster11
Can I take credit if I predict the sun will rise tomorrow? If you are going to go out on a limb like that, then absolutely you can take credit.
muggs
Well...if Oden going #1 was as sure as the sun rising tomorrow (which, with Lou's luck...now that he brought it up, probably won't happen:o) then why were Lou, Toddy, Kev, and you saying Durrant would go #1? Gosh, this is like playing cards with my brother's kids or something.
buckbuster11
Go find me a quote where I said Durant would go #1. I've never once thought about that for 1/2 a second....DB. Just because I said Durant was a better player in college, and that you were on crack for thinking Oden was the next Hakeen doesn't mean I thought Durant was going #1. I never said that once. VABuckSlayer
Isn't it a shame that these teams have to pay millions to these "Superstars" for them to rehab and injury. It seems to happen so often now. Sign a big contract... go down with a season ending knee injury (or any otherbody part). I hope all the pro football teams had good insurance policies for all the guys who got hurt in week 1! Round 2 is about to start. unioncountyslayer
Just his presence on the bench will lead to a championship this year. Even if his right leg is longer than his left.
