rhine16
Here is pictures of a new food plot that i have done this year. It is done in a 40 acre field(actually two fields cause ditch divides it) that has been used for farming over many decades. My grandad decided to plant the whole thing in pines 3 years ago. Now some of the pines are 8-10ft with all of them being at least 6 ft. The plot is done at the very back corner of the field and our land. It is not but 300ish yards from a dirt road, but the pines should cover it from anyones view. A creek(oddly, the same creek runs right down the middle of my other farm which is about 8 miles away) borders it to the south. There is a bean field right on the other side of the creek with a lot of thick stuff around it. Just across the fence from the plot, the woods are so thick that a human cant really walk in them. It is a perfect bedding place. The pines also offer a great bedding area, but i would more than likely spook any deer that was there on my way in. I have done a diagram of the area. You may not can tell much from it. The plot is in light green in the back right corner. The red dots there are possible stand locations. The brown line is the gravel road. The blue lines are the ditch and creek(respectively, from left to right). The olive green lines are the pine trees (was just showing the angles in which they are planted. I will bush hog a few of the lanes so i can shoot for rifle season. Here are some pics i took of it. The first is standing from the little spot where the woods jut out(can see that in next pic. That strip is about 60x8yards this pic goes back where you can see the big area of the plot. I will do my hunting on either side of this opening. Actually, i have a tree picked out about 5 yards to the left of the 4 wheeler. This one i just turned right and snapped the pic. This part isnt but about 15 yards long There is about 30# of rye, 20# of oats, and a couple pounds of crimson clover planted in this plot Here are a couple bucks that i will be chasing here hopefully. Both of these bucks were standing around where the 4 wheeler is in the 2nd pic above.
Hoyt03
nicely done, good luck. Many turkeys in that area?

rhine16
Many turkeys in that area? Yes, but i dont hunt turkeys on this farm. We pretty much have not trees exept for on our boundaries and a few fencelines, so we cant really turkey hunt it. We did before it was clearcut 4 years ago. I've only bowhunted the place a handful of times since then also. Actually had to climb a tree that the fence is nailed to, to hunt. But that shouldnt be a problem with this plot. Only problem there will be mosquitos and snakes.

rhine16
LOL. Can relate to that here for the enitire turkey season here and most of our deer season. I really don't ever run into snakes on my other farm, but this one is a different story. Especially with that creek being right there, and we're not but a few miles from a big river bottom. Mosquitos and gnats will tear me up during October no matter where i am, but they are worse next to the creek.
