BearClaw
What is U/A supposed to do exactly? I bought some Cold Gear and it says "Good for 51 degrees and below". Is it supposed to keep you warm or is it just supposed to wick away the moisture away from your skin so you don't sweat and get cold? I assume you still would wear your warm layering clothes as well, just like usual?
lil hunter
You are pretty much right. It wicks sweat off of your skin. The cold gear also is insulated some. I would reccomend wearing a nice windbreaking layer over the cold gear for sure.
Guest Ironhorse
I love the stuff. It makes a huge difference with regard to preventing claminess. If you have a long walk to a stand or need to put out a big decoy spread, you'll likely work up a sweat. But you won't freeze after you sit down. Another benefit is that it is anti-microbial, preventing smell. I wore a set skiing a couple of years ago when it was warm enough not need it. I was sweating like two rats in a wool sock. When I took it off, it didn't have any stink to it. I did the same thing in polypropolene long handles the next day and they smelt like, well, two rats in a wool sock. RangerClay
I was cautious at first too because of the cost. Now I love the stuff. It's all I wear!
Hoyt03
Yeah U/A is good stuff. I got some of the heat gear this year as well
deerslayer79
I love my loose fit heatgear,I can't handle the compression fit though,to tight for me,I do agree it can be pricey,I saw the price of their new hunting line and about fell out. johnf
I buy the wal-mart imitation UA and love the stuff. You can get a long sleeve camo shirt for $20 I wear 1 loose fitting shirt when it's hot and I stay nice and cool then when it's cool I wear a tighter fitting shirt under a log sleeved cotton shirt. It doesn't get really cold down here, but I wore that and a fleece jacket one morning when it was 34 degrees and never got cold.
lil hunter
If you don't like the tightness of under armour, Russell Athletics makes a similiar product that fits a little looser. it's not as loose as a t-shirt, but it's loose enough to be comfortable. I got mine for free, so I don't know how much they cost, but it's something to look into.

Guest sd sportsman
is U/A better than under armour
BearClaw
We're just using that for an abbreviation for Under Armour. (U/A) It just beats spelling it over and over!
Guest grunt0331
I have worn Under Armour cold and heat gear from the Southeast US to Iraq. I love them both. You break a sweat in either, and you stay dry. The cold gear is great if you are moving, but if you'll be sitting in a stand, wear it in, then layer on top with a polypro or fleece (or whatever you normally would wear. Big fan of the stuff. Guest WIsportsman
I agree Under Armour can be a bit pricey but it is totally worth it. I have a few cold gear mock t-necks and they work great for duck and deer hunting. If you find it too tight you can go up a size and that seemed to work for me. If you are really concerned about the price there are several companies that make similar products at lower prices but I prefer U/A.
98chevy
I have the tight fit and not a big fan. I love the loose fit. I think my belly i grow for warmth in the winter is what makes the tight fit uncomfortble.
Guest Finn
Any suggestions of a good place to get a decent price on UA?
BearClaw
I don't think I've ever seen it on sale. I read somewhere that if you're over 40, don't put it on and then look in the mirror. It's not pretty!

BowtechTurkeyHunter
Any suggestions of a good place to get a decent price on UA? Any retail store that sells UA HAS to maintain the MAP on the tag or they will loose there privledges to sell UA ... we tried to mess with pricing and got a warning within weeks to put the prices back were they were or we were going to loose our privledges ... it is very protected in pricing. HarvDog
Any suggestions of a good place to get a decent price on UA? It's about the same price anywhere you go. And for the record, I love my coldgear!!!
Guest WIsportsman
Dick's Sporting Goods has good prices, Cabela's, Bass Pro, Sportsmans Warehouse and Gander Mountain are all about the same. Not sure how far you live from any of these locations but Prime Outlet malls have Under Armour Factory stores with good deals. Prime Outlets – Under Armour Factory Houses Ellenton Florida (941) 729-6705 Hagerstown Maryland (301) 714-1450 Orlando Florida (407) 781-1995 Jeffersonville Ohio (740) 948-9330 Pleasant Prairie Wisconsin (262) 891-4400 San Marcos Texas (512) 392-9700 Williamsburg Virginia (757) 259-0166
Guest doublelung45
Love it but... I love the stuff, both cold and warm but I am kind of a hairy fella and after a full day it seems like it pulls on my body hair a little and I cant wait to take it off. I like the fact that its so tight. Its another effective layer without adding any bulk. as far as price...they are all the same but check some local sport shops. I found a couple pieces that were ordered for sports teams that were the wrong color or embroidered incorrectly and got a deal on it.
