Guest Herd_Bull Posted September 14, 2007 Report Share Posted September 14, 2007 i have a 6x24 varmit tasco scope and was going to put it on my .270 for big game hunting....is there any problem with that...can the scope handle the kick from a .270...or should it only be on smaller rifles..?? But that's an awful lot of scope to be using for general big game hunting. 6X can be pretty hard to get on a moving critter.........not much field of view. If you have to make a close-in shot or one in some brush up close you will definitely be handicapped by the 6X. Besides that.........I hope you aren't planning to carry the gun a long way in rough terrain. You're adding a good deal of weight to your rig. I'd reccommend a 3-9 or 2-10. I had a 6x24 for coyotes once and sold it because it took to long to find the target if I left it on high power. It's just to much scope IMO.
