MichiganHunter
hey every one I worked my butt off this summer at bought my self a T.C. Pro Hunter and so far love it, it pattern really well and can wait to get it into the field...Well here is my question...I am new to muzzleloader hunting and i dont know how heavy of a bullet i should be huntin with, I am sighted in with 100 grain of 777 pellets with a 200g T.C. shock wave bullet.....I am happy with the bullet and dont want to change the bullet brand but do I need to go up to a 250g or heavier....most of my shots will be from up close an in my face to 150 yards, pretty open woods or a corn field. The last two bucks I shot ( if animmal weight matters) were 185lbs dressed and 210lbs dressed. I really appreciate any input yall can give thank you and good look this year. johnf
I would stay with what you have. After all, your shooting a 45 cal. 200gr bullet. It's going to leave a big hole whether it's 200 or 250. With the 200gr. you're going to have better ballistics down field. The 250gr will have more power, but if I'm 200 yards away I would rather know where the bullet's going to go than know that whatever it hits is going to be hit real hard. bwlacy
I have always used a heavier bullet. But only because I couldn't get the lighter ones to group well. If the 200's are grouping well and you are happy with the way they shoot then I wouldn't change. 200 grains is still heavier than most people shoot in a center fire rifle. If you put a 200 grain Shockwave behind the shoulder you will have no problems. You could always buy a pack of the heavier ones and shoot them to see how they group and what the difference would be in trajectory at 150 yards. Good luck Matt
revhard
I personally shoot 250 gr. , but if your already sighted in with a 200 gr. , and it shoots well... dont fix what aint broke!
