Strut10
So it's raining out. It's 50-some degrees.............feeling a whole lot like spring. I had to make a trip to town with the Mrs. & baby this morning. Saw 6 turkeys feeding in a field alongside the road on the way in. We come pulling in the driveway when we get home and there's 9 birds on the hillside 300 yards out my front door......... 8 hens and a 7 or 8 inch "paintbrush" bearded tom. Man is his beard wide!!! Only 4 more months 'til season.

huntn4bucks
Re: Go ahead...........torture me!! I know what you mean. I video'd 32 turkeys this past weekend while deer hunting. Most of them were hens and jakes but one was a longbeard. He only had about a 8 or 9 inch beard but his spurs were HUGE!!!

Rhino
Re: Go ahead...........torture me!! Gee Strut, you still have a pretty long wait. We're still deer hunting till the end of the month and then our spring turkey season opens March 15th. Just enough time to get rested up for scouting and chasing turkeys. Last week I had some gobblers come up behind me gobbling for about 15 minutes. They were steadly closing in on my position when they decided to get the pecking order straightened out. Sounded like a good fight for a short time just out of sight over the edge of a ridge top behind me. Within a minute or so 4 gobblers (one with a rope) walked by me. It sure got me thnking more about turkey hunting.
