Seems to be him and Casey Kahne will make a sponsor switch. Kahne will have Budweiser aboard his #9 Dodge (don't feel it will have as much as an impact though as Jr. had with them) and Jr. will acquire the #88 from Robert Yates Racing and will have Mountain Dew and Amp energy drink as his main sponsors. Mountain Dew use to sponsor Casey.

So is a green car in his future? Green has always been a superstitous car in racing and everyone knows Jr. needs as much luck as he can get!! :)

Maybe they will brink back the old Darrel Watrip Mountain Dew paint schemes! :)

Jr. will not be in the 88 but he may possibly be sponsored by Mt. Dew as it is a Pepsi product and Amp Energy drink. Speculation is that he will drive the 81 which was a previous # driven by his father and himself for busch series races. 88 is registered to Yates and they said they will not part with that # or the 38. Sorry to ruin your fun but that's the way I hear it and 88 is not one of the 5 numbers registered with the US Patent office for Hendrick.

Here's a little bit from NASCAR.com concerning what Jr. had to say as of Friday in N.H. ..

LOUDON, N.H. -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. wasn't providing any hints.

"No," he said. "I've done about as good as I can do about narrowing it down and what not."

And with that, he left reporters and fans to wait until Wednesday, when the final domino in the long line of them set in motion May 10 will finally fall. The sponsor and car number Earnhardt will use next season with Hendrick Motorsports will be introduced in Dallas, also the site of a national bottler convention for Pepsi-Cola. Multiple news outlets have reported that Earnhardt will drive the No. 88 next season, and that the new stylized 88 will be unveiled on his car this Wednesday in Dallas.

But Friday at New Hampshire International Speedway, Junior wasn't telling.

"It's going to be a lot of fun to see the reaction of the fans," Earnhardt said prior to qualifying 19th for the Sylvania 300 on the 1-mile track. "I hope that they really enjoy what we're going to do, and we've been having a lot of fun with the design and with the approach and sort of forming what our identity is going to be on the racetrack and off the racetrack."

Where are you gettig your information? Just curious. You can buy other teams numbers and Robert Yates is not a guy to hold out just because he wants too, that car owner is pure class in the sport and when he retires after this year it will be sad to see him leave.

I have some friends that work on some teams in NASCAR and they hear all kinds of rumors and have some great stories! :)

I read an article earlier this week by David Caraviello who also incidentally wrote the same article where he stated the number would most likely be 81. Sorry I opened my big mouth on this one. I guess I need to thoroughly read an article before disputing another. I did however read a quote about the numbers from Robert Yates where he said he could never part with the 38 or 88 as that would be like letting his children go. I guess he don't like his kids if he's letting Jr. have the rights to the 88 next season. LOL I think we'll see another bid for Daytona 500 right from the gates next year. Yeah Jr. does need a bit of luck but his driving skills are without question some of the best. If his cars hadn't blown motors so often, he'd be in 6th or around there for the chase. I just get tired of hearing how people think his driving sucks when he's right up there with the best of them year in and year out. Just wait and see what happens next year. I guarantee you'll see a different Jr. He always drives better when there's no outside distractions. Go JR!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bowjoe,

I would like to see him do better but he needs to dump Eury Jr. He is not championship material. Sure they can win races but I don't think Tony sets up the car right or its miscommunication between the cousins.

Seeing Tony Jr. is going to Hendrick I hope Rick can keep him in line and if trouble does happen he makes a crewchieft swap. Hate to say it, you put Knauss with Jr. and they could win a championship within 2 years or so.

I feel the exact same way Lou. I was very dissapointed to hear that Tony Eury Jr. was going to Hendrick with Jr. I was hoping that Jr. was gonna jump into the 5 car, with the team as it is now, with Alan Gustafson as crew chief. The 5 team is a threat to win at any track it goes to, weather you like the current driver or not.

I thought the same thing, he was going to get all the 5 crew and the they have been doing well with Kyle, they made the Chase this year and that is something Jr. has trouble making.

I see Mears is getting the 5 crew and I believe the number too! Will be interesting but Eury Jr. needed to stay at Hendrick but I am sure Dale Jr. must have had a talk with Rick saying he wanted Tony back on the box, not sure why but he needs someone new.

His dad won with multiple crew chiefs and knew if something was not right you fix it!! Then again dad won 7 Championships!!

Did anyone notice the latest commercials with JR, Gordon, Johnson, Sadler in it concerning the rapid release Tylenol ? JR was the only one with his suit tied around his waist. thought it was funny..

With the season he's having, he needs to take as much of it as he can! :) Did notice it too Luke, man, we need to get lives outside of racing......Good thing hunting starts soon! :)
