wtnhunt
Weather here this year has been pretty uncooperative. Later than I had planned, but we finally got our fall/winter plots in yesterday. The soil was just about as perfect for working as possible, not too wet, but not too dry. Ended up planting 3 plots total. The first plot which is right around an acre was planted mostly in the hamann farms clover/trefoil grower mix, used about 8 lbs, with about 3/4 lb of chickory mixed in, but did not get the entire plot covered like I thought I would. Used some wheat and wintergrazer rye along the edges on two sides and in spots where I was concerned I might not have gotten good coverage. Also planted a little of a winter blend brassicas mix and wheat in one corner close to a good trail. The second plot was about 1/4 acre, went with about 3 lbs aberdart high sugar content rye, 1/4 lb of chickory, and 2 lbs of the hamann farms trefoil/clover grower mix. The last one was about 3/8 of an acre and went with 4 lbs of hamann farms winter brassicas blend, and about 35 lbs of wheat. Not supposed to rain until next weekend, hopefully we get some moisture before then. Will get some pics up as soon as we start seeing green. wtnhunt
No rain yet, but have gotten enough moisture from the dew in the mornings to get some of the brassicas mix and the winter wheat started off. Chances of rain Monday through Wednesday, hopefully we get some nice soaking rain each day. Hung my climber this morning right across from the end of that brush pile just in the woods across from the 4 wheeler where the bend is at. Same spot that last fall had a group of 5 bucks come through one morning.
