hoyt, you really need to shop around, and look through different scopes. Your price range really limits you.! You bought a great muzzleblaster, and now you want to put a cheaper scope on it confused.gif Triple gave you a good idea on your $ range, but also said it might be lacking in the clarity department. If you even spend $50 more you can get a much better scope. Check out the Nikons, or other good brands. I think in the long run you might be happier. smile.gif

In my opinion the Bushnell Elite 3200 series, or the Nikon ProStaffs are the two best scopes for the $$$. I am a huge fan of the 3200, but walking out of the woods at dusk one night this season, my bro was bragging about how bright his 2x7x32 prostaff was. I looked through my 3x9x40 Bushnell 3200, and then his Prostaff, and was shocked by the difference. The nikon gathered much more light. I love my 3200, but am going to try a prostaff on my next gun. You honestly won't be dissapointed with either scope. You will be better off saving up an extra $50, or $75, and buying one of these scopes.

Take a look on ebay. There are always brand new scopes on there, 20% to 30% cheaper than the catalogs. Good luck with your choice

I suggest waiting and saving up some more money to buy a better scope. You can get a Tasco 3-9x40 World Class scope for $50 and they have a $10 rebate on them. Personally, I would take that over a Bushnell. I have a few Tasco WC scopes. They will not last forever, but it will get you shooting until you can afford a better scope.

If you really onlt want to spend $100.00 for a scope, then I would get a fix four Nikon Pro-Staff. I would spend a little more and get a Weaver Classic V 3x9x38 or a Leupold VX1...

The pro staf IMO is the best scope for under $200. You can get them on ebay for under 150 for a 3-9X40 in camo. The fixed 4 would be my choice if I were buying a scope for my ML. If you want to go cheap, I would get a red dot.

& Prostaffs by Nikon.

My experiences with both were fine until I did something too often with them. The Prostaff will increasingly focus-degrade when using it at the range alot to switch from 3-power to 9. That's a pain in the butt when target-checking.

I still have another Prostaff. It's clear as a bell since Nikon ownership changed a couple/three years ago. I put it on a cartridge rifle so I'm not constantly testing anything with it. It stays on 3-power just about all the time because I don't need to do range work with it anymore. It's perfect for the environment.

So is this a problem with older Pro-staffs? I've got 2, one is new, the other is less than 2 years old. Mine usually stay on 9x. With the ample eye relief, I raraly have it set any lower.
