MUDRUNNER
Went up to the farm and checked on my plot Saturday. There's pretty decent growth so far.Everything is about 2" high at 14 days.I think if we get some rain sometime this week it should help push it up a little more. It looks like my coverage is decent, which I was a little worried about with how small the turnip and brassica seeds are. There were quite a few tracks in it,but I hope they don't tear into it for a few more weeks.I hung a stand about 50 yards off the plot on a trail that goes into it that usually has quite a few scrapes on it every November so we'll see what happens. wtnhunt
Looks good, hope you get some rain. Needing rain here now too. When I looked at the forecast Saturday there was supposed to be a good chance for rain here this coming weekend, but they have pushed it back to Monday/Tuesday now. MUDRUNNER
Any idea how long it will make it without rain at this point? The only rain it has gotten in the last 7 days has been .03" on Sunday, which is barely worth counting. It looks like they have a 40% chance tomorrow night, and a 30% chance on Thursday so hopefully they get some rain out of that, but I'm not holding my breath. MUDRUNNER
Apparently the rain never made it. Now it looks like our best chance is not till next Tuesday!I do have access to a 80 gallon water tank and could use my 20 gallon ATV sprayer to get some water on it this weekend. What does everybody think? Is it worth the trouble or should I hold out and see what happens next week? What would everybody else do in this situation? MUDRUNNER
I can't believe it...the rain looked like it was coming at us full bore and just dissapeared off the radar. We got .02" here at home and from weather.com it looks like the farm got .09" and our last rain was Sept. 10. We have had some pretty decent dew a few of the cooler mornings so I'm hoping that will help a little.I'm going up this weekend to check the plot and pull my cameras so we'll see how it goes. I asked someone who has a great deal of wisdom with food plots a similar question about carrying in water back earlier this year, and the answer I got was to let mother nature do her thing. Ended up getting some rain, and the plots made it ok, but they would have done better if the weather had been more cooperative. We are finally getting a good soaker here right now some 10 or 11 days after planting. Actually have some flooding from the heavier rain earleir this morning. Despite no precip in a couple weeks, we had enough moisture in the ground from the dew in the mornings to get some decent germination. Really looking forward to seeing how our plots come on after this rain.
