89importeater
well guys i totally choked on a easy shot this mourning that i should have been able to make with my eyes closed. well im looking around when all of a sudden when my head is at full turn on the right side their is a shooter doe standing their just staring in my direction. well i must admit it scared "lasts night dinner" out of me so i closed my eyes (i remember someone saying that you shouldnt look a deer in the eyes or they will notice you plus it helps calms my nerves) and then slowly opened one. she is kinda sniffing around being VERY cautious so when i get the chance i get my bow off the ez hanger and stand up, (where she was their was no way to get a shot sitting down) but halfway through the whole removing the bow from the ez hanger she looks in my direction again so their i am looking like a idiot with my bow being held halfway up in the air and my nerves are already shot so my arm is shaking like a middle eastern belly dancer. well i finally get enough time to get the bow drawn and pointed in her direction. when it looks like i finally have a shot i release my arrow send my axis her way and i dont know what happened but i missed her. i dont even remember seeing the arrow in flight or releasing it for that matter. well she goes flying off and im like what the heck so i go look for my arrow and i finally found it but it took a while to locate it so near the end im thinking to myself "did i actually have an arrow in their?" anyway i was just wondering if it would be worth it or productive to hunt the same stand wednesday evening since i scared her off monday mourning. sorry for the rant but i am still a little shaken by the whole experience. this SHOULD have been my first bow deer, and it was also the closest i have ever been to a live deer while hunting. thanxs guys and gals
MUDRUNNER
Don't worry about the miss to much...there's lots of time left.I've choked plenty of times.LOL.I've done the same "close my eyes" trick a time or two.I know I've looked at my broadhead before I've drawn before and that thing was bouncing all over the place from shaking so bad. That's all part of the hunting experience.I would go back and hunt that stand again. It seems like it's getting some action,so as long as the wind is good I would give it another sit. Guest millerhunter13
yeah i would try it again on wednesday, and i hope you get a deer with your bow, if i get a deer with my bow this year it will be my first deer period, plus with a bow. good luck
toddyboman
Sorry about the miss....We ALL have done it. Great story....I was LMBO at your comical statements.:D Yep hunt that stand again. As long as the wind is right deer will be back. Now if that "SAME" doe comes back in she might be hesitant of coming that close to that tree again. But hopefully she will have some friends that aren't so smart ;) :) Good luck:):)
Dogg6
Go ahead and hunt it again. I've missed deer in the past and within a week they are back in the area. Don't worry about the miss it happens to all of us. The key is to learn something from it. Better luck next time.

Buckslayer
Good story, you'll get another chance... Go ahead and try it Wednesday. No harm in it unless conditions are wrong.
wildthing
misses happen...but you need to forget about it and don't let your mind think about it again. The excitement that even a doe can bring is why we hunt! Learn from your mistakes, take a deep breath, and focus on the shot. Stay calm and stay focused on the shot...you get her next time! Guest adrenaline_junky
Don't sweat the miss it's part of hunting. That's why we bow hunt for that extra challenege. As far as going back in wednesday, i would, i've missed deer and had them come back in an hour or two later. She probably didn't know what happened she just knew it wasn't natural. You have to remember you are in the deers home and they always know when something ain't right, but i don't think you'll have a problem going back in wednesday. Good Luck to ya and don't worry bout the miss i think we've all done it.

Muzzy61
Storys like this is why we all love to bow hunt. The more sucess you have the easier it is to calm the nerves, but if I ever lose the butterfly feelings in my stomach, then I'll hang my bow up. Stay at it and best of luck!
