Golf Cart anyone......

I think I want a golf cart.

I would basically use it the ride around our hunting property. It should be quiet, so it wont spook game and I can talk to the passenger. Plus in the summer I can take it to the golf course.:)

Of course then I want to put a lift kit on it.Some off road tires on it but I would keep the turf tires for the golf course. And make the body camo.;):D

Basically I am going to make my own bad boy buggy without the 10k price tag ;);):):)

No I do not need a 4-wheeler my dad has one at my disposal at ANY time. I want something different.

And no I am not paying that much for a rhino/ranger/gator ect.:o

Plus it might be a fun project.:D

Anyone else have or done such a thing or have any tips or suggestions :):)

It performed great. The only problem I had was, I had to have a generator to charge the cart at camp. If you have power to plug in the charger you shouldn't have a problem.

The only thing I would suggest is, install a winch. If you did get it stuck they don't have enough power to pull it's self out.

If you want quiet, electric is the only way to go. A gas cart is dang near as loud as a 4-wheeler. Also, make sure you get one of the new style carts that has the upgraded solid state control circuitry. They're MUCH faster and more reliable than than the older models, and they'll run farther on a single charge. Some will go well over 10 miles. Anything made after 2002 or so should already have it. A winch is a good tool, but be careful installing it. First, the cart will probably have a 36V system (6 6V batteries), so you'll have to isolate part of it to find 12V. And ALWAYS make sure any electrical device you add is fused. Trust me on this one!!! Second, you'll have to fabricate a winch mount. A cheap and easy alternative might be to carry a come-along and some rope or chain to pull yourself out with if you get stuck.

EZ Go is my favorite brand, and you'll find lot's of aftermarket stuff readily available for them.

JCWA, that's a sweet looking cart....great job.

What all did you have to modify? What make is that cart?

The cart is a 2001 EZGO. The only thing I modified from the original basic cart was to put on larger battery cables, and larger cables to the motor, plus heavy duty coiled shocks.

Here is a link for parts and accesories for golf carts.

I had clubcart for the longest time. It was eletric. I killed countless deer using the steering wheel as a rest. I had mud tires, lights, and a winch. Sry I dont have any pics. I sold it cuss we didnt have power at our old lease and we could wallk to most places. Yall also will be very supriced what these things make it through also. There very tough. only problem I had was burning up cables but I think it was cuss my coils where over heating and needing to be replaced

Yeah little to good to be true. A local auto shop that works on my truck sales them. He buys them form a wholeseller and builds them to what ever you may want. I got a call friday night though and the wholeseller went up on him. He promiced to find me one for the same price but we will see.

Great Alternative

We moved to the country outside of Newnan, GA in 1999. Since it was a half-mile walk to the mailbox, I bought a used (1996) EZGO green golf cart to use for that task, and we found it was useful for many other jobs as well. I bowhunt the area, and, as forum members have found, they fill a niche as an alternative to ATVs. I purchased a lift kit (including larger wheels and tires) from Cabela's for around $400, and it does a superb job getting around the woods, and is surprisingly agile. My first set of batteries lasted over 7 years, and it has been problem free. If you don't need the capability of a Bad Boy Buggie, the used golf cart route makes a lot of sense.
