Leo
Let me tell you folks something. Every now and then a product hits the market that sets the standard for the competitors. As far as I'm concerned Breakfree CLP is one of those products. I kid you not, I'm seriously impressed with this stuff. CLP stands for Clean, Lube and Protect. It dries to the touch and still keeps everything slick. Because it is a dry lubricant it doesn't freeze or attract and collect grime. I'm surrounded by marines where I live. Marines are first and foremost rifleman. They have to use this stuff on their rifles because it's the only lube that passed their standard. As a result the stuff flies off the shelves here pretty quick because these guys are buying it for their personal weapons. Especially for cleaning Auto shotguns (or any auto weapon for that matter) I believe it has no equal. Trust me it's that good.

mehunter
It's all I have used for years, and absolutely no complaints
RangerClay
I forgot who made the post but a few years ago but someone asked about the best stuff to prevent rust on a gun. Someone replied with an independant test that was done somewhere. The guns were dipped in a saltwater brine and allowed to sit afterwards. The only gun that didn't rust was the gun covered in Breakfree. I bought a can and I have never looked back. It is incredable If the Marines are using it then that may explain why there is a shortage of the stuff.

lowcountry boy
I'm glad to hear it, I've been using it for about 7 or 8 years now, and never had a problem with it, but after reading a number of posts and forums I started to second guess myself. I didn't see any of the "experts" using it. Now I can worry about other things...like what kind of shotgun to buy next.
wtnhunt
After buying my AR, was checking some information over at AR-15.com and ran across a list of cleaning stuff everyone needs and breakfree CLP was listed. Had never used the stuff before, but did buy some from midway shooting here not too long back when I ordered my scope mount and will be using it soon to clean several of my guns. Leo
Thanks for the affirmation replies folks. I hope this thread drives some more folks to give the stuff a try. Like Lowcountry Boy pointed out, the stuff doesn't seem to get any "expert" endorsement. So that often makes folks wonder, is it any good? I believe the folks at Breakfree believe the US Military is as expert an endorsement as they need. The only argument I have for that logic is the Military isn't an advertiser. Still "word of mouth" referrals seem to be enough to get this stuff to leave the shelves of the local Wally World pretty fast. This stuff has been around quite awhile as evidenced by some of the replies. It's not a new kid on the block product. After all these years, it is still THE standard all other CLP(style) dry lubricant products are measured against. For some folks this is old news. Bottomline, if you degrease your shotgun and treat it with CLP, it will function better and be much better protected.
