Texan_Til_I_Die
I'm thinking about making an evening hunt on Saturday. Won't be able to hunt that morning..........work:rolleyes:..........so hopefully I can get out there that evening. I usually don't hunt in the evenings so what time do ya'll think would be a good time to get out there? Most of the movement I've been seeing is right at sundown, but you just never know. I'd say around 4:30 - 5:00 would be early enough. I'm planning to hunt Saturday and Sunday mornings, haven't decided yet on the afternoons. Probably depend on whether or not there are still a bunch of doves around. If they're flying good, I'll probably opt for a dove shoot in the afternoon. Dawg
Still debating on that evening hunt tommorrow evening........if we have overcast skies like today I probably will. Hope everyone has a good weekend and let's lay the smackdown on something!!!!!!!

Dawg
I've got a one that I'll sell ya!! It's the Bushnell Yardage Pro 400. It's the older model but in excellent working condition. I'll take $125 shipped. I went out this evening. Didn't make it to the lease until 6pm. So I decided I would still hunt the main road that goes through the lease. I parked my truck and began to creep along the narrow road, it's about 8 ft wide. I walked about 100 yards and caught movement up ahead. I looked a little harder and found myself 25 yards from a doe. Man I done pulled the sneaky-sneak and didn't even no it. Anyways, she is slowly making her way to my left but she is slightly at an angle. I raise my bow, tell myself to calm down(this is the first deer I have even attempted to shoot with a bow), pull back and get at half draw and "BAM" she busts me..............off she goes. But I'm pumped anyway cause I got that close to a deer and I know that if I would have taken a little more time I would have gotten her. So I continue on my still hunt and I round the corner of the road which straightens out and runs about 250-300 yards before the next bend. I catch a glimpse of somthing WAY down there, I raise my binos(which I bought from preacherman here on the forums) and see nothing but somethin tells me there was something there. I look back up with my naked eye and see a big bodied deer crossing the road down where I just looked!! Now I'm really excited!! The deer never saw me, it just eased on off in the woods. Wasn't a successful hunt as far as putting meat on the ground but it was because I got to "semi" draw down on a deer!!
Gator
First weekend in the woods was a bust for me. Unless I can count Skeeters!!!!! They were THICK!!!!!!!!!!! That is until I bought a THERMACELL!!! Won't get to hunt this weekend, daughter is here, but you can bet I will be in the woods the following weekend!!! Texan_Til_I_Die
Hunted Saturday, Sunday and Monday mornings and still haven't had a shooter buck in range. I let an arrow go at a hog Sunday morning, but some brush go it on the way and I ended up with a clean miss. Supposed to be 58 here in the morning, so I think I'll get up early and run out to a little place I have right outside town for a quick before work hunt. buckee
Signatures Hey, Everyone now has the ability to upload their sinatures, directly from your computer, instead of having to host them somewhere, and Everyone now has the 30k limit for their signature upload, (instead of 13.0 k) directly from your computer. Also, everyone now has the WYSIWYG editor, even if they did not before. They can change it back if they want, but everyone now has it. Everyone can thank Scott and Brittany (at Greyloon.com) Right click on the picture(signature) and "Save image as....". choose a folder somewhere in your computer to save it in, such as "My Pictures", which is found in "My Documents", so you know where to find it when you upload. Then go up to the toolbar in the forums and click on "User CP", and "Edit Signature" (upper left hand side in grey strip toolbar) Then scroll down to "Option 2 - Upload Image From Your Computer" and click on the "Browse" button. Then go to the folder you have the picture stored in and click on the picture. Then just click "Save Signature" . That should take care of your signatures. Texan_Til_I_Die
Saw a decent 8 point this morning, but he never got closer than 80 yards. Probably wouldn't have taken a shot even if he did come into range. I know there are bigger deer around, I just have to be patient.
Texan_Til_I_Die
Beautiful weather this morning. 56 and absolutely no wind. Saw the same 8 point from yesterday then a doe came by acting funny. About 10 minutes later a nice 10 point came by trailing her. I was on the ground in a cedar thicket and when I drew, the buck saw me and went on point. I held for about a minute until he finally turned to give me a quartering away shot. He was at 25 yards so I put my 20 yard pin just above center right behind his shoulder and tripped the release. THE ARROW HIT THE GROUND ABOUT HALF WAY TO THE DEER! Then I see this spindly little cedar limb about 5 feet in front of me swaying up and down. My sight pins had been above it, but the arrow hit it as soon as I released. Oh well...
