hows everyone doing guys? i went out saturday and ran a big time ten out from under my stand, there hasnt been any pressure in these woods for the last year and the deer are there. it's some thick stuff so you can only see them if they step out in my lane, but they are there. i had a buck ten yards out last night but it was too dark to take a good shot, tonight i had a 3 pointer walk under at 5:30.... the deer keep showing up but its the wrong one!

Well, I finally shot something. Not too sure what it is, but it did have antlers!

Think it's a mule deer/whitetail hybrid. It has this really big spike on one side that ends in a crab claw and the other side looks like, well........A SQUASH! I kid you not, there's a club growing out of the left side of this thing's head! Guess it will get counted as a 3 pointer????

I'll get some pics up whenever the RT photo post comes back online.

Hey guys, it's been a little while since my last post, just don't have a lot of time right now! Still haven't got a deer yet. Had a small 8 and a spike come in the morning of the 7th. The eight would have been a good bow kill but he didn't come in close enough. The spike came in right under me but I decided to let him walk, he was way to young to kill. Seen a doe the same morning walking out but she saw me too and ran off. Just put my pop-up blind in a new location last night, I'll be out there hopefully thursday, friday and saturday. Saw another doe and one other deer in this same location on the 17th. Maybe they will come back in and let me have a closer look at em!

Until next time..........hogdawg.

Well I finally shot me a doe Saturday evening. This was the last weekend to legally shoot doe's, so I pretty much blasted one. She was a good size mature doe, probably around 90-100 lbs. Unfortunately, by the time I found her and got her out of the woods, it was too dark to take a photo with my cell phone, I don't have a camera, so this one is my bad guys. Next time I go out, I'll be prepared. Friday morning, I had two dogs run a longhorn spike by me at about 35 yards, this is the second time this has happened. I think there is a good possiblity that someone is in my neck of the woods running dogs. One more time and they'll lose their dogs....if you know what I mean.....:D.

Until next time.............hogdawg.

Don't you have a late muzzle loader season? I think you can take a doe without any special permits then.

Yeah, your right we do have a late muzzleloader season. Didn't think about that! I actually shot a doe last year during that season and almost got into some big time trouble...............long story..:D......

I hunted Saturday, Sunday and Monday morning. I've got a really nice 10 point, about 145 B&C, on a solid feeding pattern. He comes out into a wheat field every afternoon about 5:00. The field is around 100 acres, but he always walks in at the exact same spot. So far, all I've done is watch him through my spotting scope from 500 yards across the field, but it should be easy to set up on him and take him as long as the wind is right. There's plenty of cover about 75 yards from where he enters. All it takes is a NW wind. There is also a super looking 8 point on the other side of the ranch and he's also on a solid afternoon feeding pattern. He's actually leaving my ranch and going over to a neighbor's wheat field. I watched him Sunday afternoon from 150 yards as he followed a narrow neck of brush that connects a larger section of timber to the wheat field. A really easy opportunity that doesn't rely on a particular wind direction. I've got 1 tag left and 1 weekend to hunt, so I've got to make a decision on which, if either, deer to try for.

What's up fella's? I haven't had any luck either. I haven't seen a deer in the past three weeks, mainly because I haven't been out there. Thought I would have seen something on Monday morning, we had temps in the upper 20's at day break and it remained below freezing until 9 that morning, I mean perfect hunting conditions in my opinion.........except for the stinkin' full moon........the moon was so bright I didn't have to use the flashlight most of the way into my stand. Guess that kept them feeding at night. Hopefully I can connect with one, doe or buck don't really care anymore, before season is over and that is in just a few short weeks.

Yep, almost a waste of time to hunt mornings right now. I'm seeing 10 times more movement in the afternoons, especially from the bucks.

Went out Saturday morning to no avail. It's down to the nitty gritty now. I've got one hunting day left to get a buck and based on the past few weeks, things aren't looking to great. You never know though. Still have ML season left maybe I can score on another doe or a spike. This will probably be my last post on here (this thread not the whole site), unless I get one this Saturday, but it's been fun this season, enjoyed being on "The Gang of Nine" maybe we can get em' next season. Hope the best for all of you this year!!!;)

Until next time...........hogdawg.

Well guys, my season has ended, and other than the doe I shot during bow season, which I screwed up and forgot to take pics of the tag, that was it for me. I went to Alabama over Christmas, and have only been there once in 7 yrs that I didn't kill a deer, this year was the WORST. I didn't even see one while hunting. There were two does taken over Thanksgiving on our place, after that, not a deer seen during the daylight. I have seen a couple of nice okie bucks, but of course it was AFTER our season ended, and I was coyote hunting, go figure.
