Went out and scouted some more on the newly acquired 80 acres. Saw lots of promising signs. Husband went yesterday morning ( on our private land) and saw 6, all does and spotted fawns. Couldn't tell which one was the mother so he let them all walk.

Well, guys and gals, I wasn't able to recover the buck. Makes me sick. I know he's dead somewhere. But its not within a mile radius unless I walked passed him.

Anyway, I've been passing on several deer lately. Saturday morning, I had 3 small bucks walk past 20 yards. One was a nice 8 point but young and the other two were small 6's. I've also passed on a couple of doe, but I'm getting that urge again.:D I go on vacation tomorrow and will connect on something in the upcoming two weeks. Hopefully, it will have horns.:D

Went out this morning, but no luck. Had a small buck come in about 20 yds behind me, but I let him walk. Its too early to shoot a small buck with all the vacation time I'm taking in early november. I saw one other deer off to my left, but i couldn't see its head so I don't know what it was. I may get out tomorrow evening, if not I won't be back in the woods until sunday. Good Luck Everyone!!

Finally got my buck entered on the entry page. I couldn't get the one picture to load from home b/c it was too big. So I brought it to work, resized it, then uploaded it.

I was on a giant last night but he came a little too late. 10 minutes earlier and I would had another one for the entry. Friday is the next day I can get out so we'll see what happens.

I haven't had a chance to get my pics online from the doe, but unless I get a buck soon, I'll go ahead and post them before I go back to work.

Not like its gonna help us or anything, but I harvested another doe tonight. Shot her at 4:50 and had her gutted, checked in and quartered up by 7:15.

Went out last night and tonight and saw nothing except for a bobcat and some squirrels. It is supposed to rain tomorrow evening so I probably won't be back in the woods until next weekend. Finally looks like the weather is going to break and cool off here later this week. Hopefully that will boost the deer movement and maybe the bucks will start showing themselves. Good luck everyone!!

I'm headed out this morning again. Had a nice buck within 60 yards Saturday morning at 10 am, but he locked up and wouldn't come in.

Last night was probably my best night as far as deer movement. I got on stand at 4 and from 4:30 on I had does all over me. In total, I would say that in 3 1/2 hours on stand, I had deer around me 3 of those hours.

Well, my luck can't get any worse.:D

Shot a nice 8 point at eight o'clock this morning. Called my buddy to tell him and he said he'd pick me up at 10. I had a small forked horn walk by me at 9:45 but other than that, nothing else.

When he met me at my stand, I walked over to where I had shot the 8 pointer and couldn't find any sign of a hit. I knew I had hit him because he made the high leg kick and ran with his tail between his legs. Well, we finally found the arrow. It was 10 yards away in the middle of the creek where the buck crossed with 4 inches of the end snapped off. My buddy thought maybe I had hit a tree but I figured I had hit the off shoulder and the buck had busted the arrow when he high kicked.

Anyway, long story short, as soon as we started looking for a blood trail, the rain hit. And boy did it hit. We looked for about 30 minutes in the pouring rain and I finally hollered at my Jaime and told him to give it up. We were walking out and all of a sudden Jaime hollered, "Wohhh, Woohh". I looked down and we were standing in the what was left of a good blood trail. The rain was steadily washing it away, though. We looked for another hour trying to find the rest of the trail, but finally we had enough of the downpour and headed home.

The best I can determine, the buck was quartering away from me when I shot and I beleive I hit both lungs but then centered the far shoulder. The shot was probably a tad high, which would explain the lack of a blood trail for the first 30 yards.

It's 4:30 right now and its still raining. I plan on hunting the same stand in the morning and getting down early to hopefully recover the buck. Temps overnight should be in the low 40's.

Did you ever find the buck Kevin? Really sorry to hear that.

The temps took a nose dive here today. High of 58. Deer should get moving this afternoon. They've been dealing with warm weather for a while. This oughta get their hormones pumping. My husband is bowhunting and has seen deer everytime, just not in range. That's okay though, it just means I'll slay them when gun season starts.;)

Haven't found the buck or the buzzards.:(

On a good note, the rut is kicking into gear down here. Sat in my stand last night and had 9 does walk by, all offering 20 yard shots. This morning, I had 16 deer walk by my stand at different yardages. Only 3 bucks, though, but they were all dogging does. Won't be long until Mr. Bigboy makes a mistake. I just hope I can follow through this time.

Saw 6 this morning. Two 8 pointers and 4 doe. One 8 was borderline, but I passed on him at 15 yards. Kicked myself in the butt as I watched him walk off. Hunting public land, I need to lower my expectations a bit. But I know there's some good ones in there, just have to be at the right place at the right time.
