hey yall,

sorry i havent been on in a while to check in. our season started saturday and i should be heading out sometime this week. got a place near my college that is pretty good. it just sux trying to squeeze in time to hunt with football, but hopefully i can help put some points on the board. also got our 100 acres in the heart of the best deer hunting in OH, coshocton county. i should at least be able to pull a doe out of there, and maybe the big boy that has been eluding me the past 2 seasons.

How is everyone's season going? I've had a few close calls but no dice so far other than I shot a monster. Probably 140 inch buck and 7 of us searched for 5 hours and never found him. I went back the next day and walked and walked and never found him.

Man that sucks! Hopefully he survived the hit. Good luck the rest of the season!

My season starts Saturday but I may go Striper fishing since it's going to be almost 90 degrees. It's suppose to cool off by mid week next week. I may go Sat. afternoon. We'll see.

Hutchies, thats a shame. Maybe you'll meet up with him again???? Who knows. The 140 inch part is the kicker... sorry to hear that man.:)

Thought I'd share these as promised gentlemen... enjoy -- they are trophies to me so thats why I mounted them. You might recognize the 10 point as being the deer in my avatar pic for about a year (it was an after the kill photo)... This is the great work of Ron Zellman.:D:D Good luck this weekend to all! Lets hope the temps drop!

Some good looking mounts there Slayer! You have a great buck too Steve. Would be cool to have a banner with our deer mounts on it. Wish I knew how to do it.

Tomorrow is the day but I think I'm going fishing in the morning. It's going to be warm and I never do well in the mornings before the rut anyway. I will probably hunt behind my house in the evening. I'm pulling my camera out when I get home from work today and if I have anything on it during daylight hours then I'll hunt there for sure. We'll see.

Here's a pic of the property behind my house. The area in yellow is the 5 acres I live on and the area in red is 70 acres my dad owns that I'll be hunting on some this year.

Your property looks like killin' woods Eric!!

Hopefully you'll have some pics. I'll check my camera during midday hours tomorrow... maybe I'll do the same as you and go out in the eve if I've recorded any movement.

I'll talk to Moon and see if she can make us a banner with our mounts because I'm no good at it!!

Nice buck Paul! Good luck topping him this Fall!

Here is 3 aerials of another property I call Paradise. It's a river bottom along the Chicahominy river. The mount I posted with the small necked deer came off this property. The first pic is the northern part, then the middle part, and last the southern part. It's a total of 540 acres. A good friend of mine leases it and gave me the keys to it several years ago and said treat it like you own it. Fortunately I don't have to pay a dime for it but I've helped him do a bunch of work around the farm. If you like fishing those ponds are awesome. I've caught so many 6lb bass out of those ponds I couldn't tell you how many. My best is just over 8lbs but 10 lbers have come out of there. The duck hunting can be awesome at times too. You can kind of see why I call this place "Paradise". The area in yellow are hardwood, in orange is swamp, pink is a cutover, and of course blue is water. The light blue X's are where I have stands or climb trees to hunt. Man I love this place an hope to never lose it however it's in the process of being bought so the future there for me is up in the air right now.

That looks pretty good. What do the rest of you think?

Saturday was warm guys but I did see a good buck in the morning at my club. He skirted along the creek bottom with a doe and never offered me a shot. There was too much foilage the way he went. The evening was slow but right at dark I had a big doe come out with a yearling. I decided to pass her because of how warm it was and the fact it would have been a long drag.

I won't hunt again until later this week when it's suppose to cool off some. It going to be 90 degrees here for the next couple days. That's just too hot for me!

How's this guys ?

That looks cool buckee... did you guys want to go with this one??

Moon said she'd work on one with a mount photo from each of us if we were interested. I'll let her know one way or another. I think it would be cool to have a banner with our mounts but not all of us have posted mount photos or if you don't have a mount use a photo of your favorite kill. I also wouldn't mind using buckee's banner. So what do you guys think we should do?

p.s. only saw one stinking doe saturday in the a.m... it was so hot nothing was moving here -- hopefully, that will change quickly and we'll get some good fall temps.
