Hey team; Canuck2 checking in.

ranch, nice start for our bunch. Good luck on a big buck now.

General info : I'm in southern British Columbia right on the WA state border. I hunt mostly whitetails but occasionally take a mule deer too. Next week I'll be gone for awhile on a moose hunt and hope to come home with a plethora of steaks. Usually I bow hunt but most activity will be with rifle this year as I'm still coming back from shoulder surgery.

Here's a sampling of the animals I've hunted.

OK, how about a team name? My thinker isn't firing on enough cylinders right now (bad cold) to get too creative. Suggestions?

Hi guys. Just checking in to say Hi and let you all know a little about myself. I do most of my hunting in Southern IL, but i do hunt in Missouri and Michigan also. I have high hopes for this year since i have bow, gun, and muzzleloader tags for IL. I go to Michigan for a week of hunting for bow and gun and i also have a bow hunt scheduled for Pike County IL for late december. I am currently hunting in Missouri, but all we are seeing are some does here and there. To hot to really get on them yet. I did have a small 8 pointer on me opening morning, but he was spooked off by my brothers coming out of the woods. Not really for sure if i would have taken him or not, but that made the decision pretty easy. LOL. Well good luck to all and i will be sure to check in on a regular basis.

Congrats on the doe Ranchand99....

Well guys. Next Monday is my opening day of IL bow season. It is suppose to cool down this weekend so hopefully it stays that way for Monday. I just found out some bad news about the state land where we hunt. They are not allowing anyone to leave a treestand on the property overnight anymore. This means you can pretty well only use climbers. It's ok for half of my treestand locations, but all my early season stands are in areas where you can't find a tree to climb. I am starting to check into light ladder stands that can be packed in and out. I don't really understand the rule and i have sent the ILDNR a e-mail asking if they could explain to me why they come to that decision. I called the farmer of the land we hunt in MO and he tells me that he is picking all the corn starting on Friday and finishing Saturday morning. I am trying to get home early on friday to be able to hunt in the evening. Well, I just thought i would give everyone a hunting update. How is everyone else's season going. If it hasn't opened then when does it open?

Good to see you, monsterbucks1 and Hunter 36. Nice going on the antelope, 36. Any pictures?

Looks like we have most of the team accounted for now. Here's hoping the holdouts will sign their contracts soon.;)

I'll be leaving on a moose hunt early Saturday and will be gone for a week to ten days. Really excited about it and hope to have a few pictures to share when I get back. Just so you know why I'm not posting for awhile.

Good luck out there, mates.

Checking in; this is the first time I've ever done something like this. Never entered a contest in my 40 something years. I've only been hunting for 4 years (Buckee is my hunting partner/mentor), so am still learning the ropes.

Our season started at the beginning of September where I live on Vancouver Island Canada. Been a little late getting my tags (we have an abundance of Black tails here), but I am salivating at the idea of getting out there. Hope I can help the team with a good buck or two.

Thanks monsterbucks1 for the info. I will be sure to check into the summit stand.

Hello there Wilfinator and Hunter36. Welcome aboard. It sounds like we have a pretty good team going here.

Good luck on that hunt Canuck. We have been talking on going on a moose hunt for the past couple of years. We are going on our first elk hunt next year and trying to decide if we go for moose or caribou next. Be sure to get us some nice pics.

Canuck, I am guessing you meant " for the elk hunt next year ". We are going to Colorado with a couple of friends of ours and doing a self guided hunt. We won't be working from scratch since they have been going out for the last few years. They have had some awesome bow kills the last couple of years. They probably have a 75% success rate which i thought was pretty good for a do it yourself hunt. I don't know all the details yet, but i am excited. Like i said earlier, we don't really know what we are going to hunt after that. I guess it all depends on how much money we save up. I know that the caribou hunts i have heard about people going on are fairly cheep, but the moose hunts can get up there pretty quick. Plus alot of areas you have to earn points to hunt and we haven't even really started checking on it yet. It all will be with a bow no matter where i go.
