Velvet on the ground?

When scouting I've noticed theres never been velvet on the ground near the first fresh rubs. Ive heard from some that the deer eat their velvet, is this true?

Have heard that they will eat the velvet, seems like I have seen some video footage of them eating it somewhere too.

I too have heard that they will eat the velvet.

But I also have found fresh velvet at the base of the tree.

They eat the velvet that comes off their horns. It gives the deer a lot nutrients actually. The most likely way you'll get some velvet is by getting a deer with it still on or hanging.

ya i have only ever found one small piece in a small thorn bush, But i have also heard that deer will eat dead animals in times or hard ship or sickness...now i dont know how much truth there is behind that but it's what i've heard and i have seen deer sniffing gut piles in tall grass (I thought they were sniffing it they could of been licking or eatting on it.) the tall grass kind of blocked my view of there face.

I've never heard of that before. I'm not thinking its true either, but each to his own I guess.

I do remember seein that, can't remember where though. That's a good question cause i've never noticed it either.
