MichiganHunter
I've shoot deer right OVER i mean right ON TOP of old gut piles so i dont think it will make to much diff unless u get a coyote in there to eat it and it stays in the area.....Oh by the way nice double lung shot, i bet he didn't go too far should be an easy tracking job, with all half a cup of blood coming out..HAHA

Guest Finn
If it was so dark you couldn't see the squirrel, how do you know you made the perfect shot? No, it won't affect your deer hunting
Turkeygirl
I definitely doubt a squirrel will mess up your spot...although waste of some good squirrel meat.
Mirage
if anything I think deer are curious creatures and heck they might even check it out!

No, it won't affect your deer hunting i shot it while i was still in stand. and after i shot it (daylight) i still sat in my stand another 30 min waiting for deer. and then i got down and looked for it lol

Just curious.....You never know ,that big ol` 10 point might have been right around the corner..

Ravin R10 man
Be careful when you go look for it, and carry at least a 300 win mag.. a wounded squirrel can be vicious!!

Just curious.....You never know ,that big ol` 10 point might have been right around the corner.. well i didn't waist an arrow. i always carry 2 practice arrows along for rodents, coons, and coyotes. it was a pass through the arrow just stuck in the ground. covered with a whole teaspoon of blood :D lol i just took the arrow back and washed it off. good as new!! (the broad head was a practice broadhead, still sharp but i wouldn't use it on a deer)
HoosierDaddy28
I think the point was more why would you take a chance of spooking deer by shooting a squirrel rather than the comment regarding wasting arrows. If you have a deer coming in it could be spooked by you shooting non target species. At the end of the day it is your call.
razortec_hunter
it was nearing the end of the day. and the ground is totally covered with dry dead leaves. i would have heard a deer coming for 100 yards. and the wind was dead and i couldn't hear anything. camoman1
I wouldnt worry much about spooking deer with the dead missing squirrel lol. I took a poke at a coyote that came wheeling in on some turkeys opening morning....shot a little high and only got some fur. Well bout 20 min later a doe and twins came in. The doe stood over the fur smelling it for a good 3 min straight...looking around and just acting confused. after that she kept on grazing and the three made their way like it wasnt event there. Rem308
Give this guy some slack, because after all, it's a 'Hunters Choice' if they you want to shoot a squirrel or wait for a deer all evening. I also carry a 'flingin arrow' that I will send flying towards a squirrel or other varmint while deer hunting. Sometimes after a LONG series of days in the stand, you need to do this to keep your sanity. Good shootin', those twitchy little rats are hard to hit with a bow. Good luck the rest of the season. Brad6639
I carry 5 arrows when I hunt deer, 3 are broadhead tipped arrows, and one is a judo point, and the other is a field point. If Im not seeing anything and there is a squirel close, I will often times take a shot, never ever hit the lil buggers, but Ive shot at a bunch of them. I always always take a practice shot before leaving the stand, Ill pick out a leaf or something similar, and guess the yardage and take a poke at it, and that is excellant practice. As already stated, you can typically hear them coming from a ways away, but yeah if you do it enough it might scare a deer. On the other hand, as much as I love hunting, it gets boring when you do it for long periods of times, and do whatever it takes to keep your self in the stand. If you have to read a book, play yahtzee, or take a shot at a squirrel every couple hours, youll see more deer by doing that then you will sitting at home because you coudlnt take the bordom any longer. Nice shot by the way, I never get more than 3 inches from them, they are soo jumpy! I have shot a racoon and a fox from my stand while bowhunting before, im real proud of my fox bowkill!
