Scentblocker vs. Scent-lok

I own a scentblocker suit and love it. I haven't had a deer that I can see smell me yet. I just don't see many people with scentblocker. All I ever hear about is scent-lok. My question is what's the difference and why does it seem like everyone wears scent-lok. The only hunting shows I have seen with scentblocker is Drury Outdoors and Realtree. Every other one has scent-lok. It's not a big question, I was just a bit curious as to what everyone else has and why they think that one brand is more popular than the other. Thanks!

Scent Lok sells the rights for its process to ScentBlocker. So its the same technology just another brand out there. The lining is the same. Talked with Scent Lok about this is and got it straight from them. Licensing type deal, Scent Lok owns the process but will allow others to use it.....for a nominal fee! :) LOL!!

Does that have anything to do with why it appears there are so many more Scent-Lok products in Realtree patterns versus ScentBlocker? It seems like you only see the Roadtrips suit and the Dream Season Suit from Scent Blocker.

Roadtrip suits only come in Realtree patterns due to Roadtrips being a Realtree show.

Dream Season is a Drury brothers show who endorse Mossy Oak camo so all Dream Season suits will be in Mossy Oak.

That is how those 2 suits work and the naming of them, its just a way of marketing ScentBlocker with those 2 great shows.

The patterns just are up to Scent Lok and their choice. You have the Lakosky's Tiffany and Lee who are Realtree fans in Bill's patterns in Scent Lok suits because they endorse Scent Lok and are staff shooters.

Both offer great suits and in different patterns and if you search long enough you can find what you need in either maker. Both share the same carbon process and that idea is Scent Lok's with ScentBlocker using it.

It comes down to marketing prowess and strategic business partnerships that lead to one being seen more than others. If Scent-Lok did license to Scent Blocker then they not only get the benefit of having a strong brand but they also get royalties of every sale of the "competing" Scent Blocker.

As far as why do you see more Scent-Lok in RealTree patterns than Scent Blocker, good question! In this instance I think that Scent Lok is benefiting from the extreme market penetration enjoyed by RealTree. This does not explain all of it since one could argue that Scent Blocker comes in RealTree as well. But Scent-Lok was first to market and probably had very little competition during start-up. With smart business decisions (Partnering with RealTree & Licensing their technology to their competitor) and a little luck on their side (RealTree’s ultra strong brand recognition) Scent-Lok is able to become the dominant brand in the market.

By paying Scent-Lok licensing fees for their technology, Scent Blocker is at a disadvantage. Every time Scent Blocker makes a sale they have to pay Scent-Lok a royalty on the technology. Every time Scent-Lok makes a sale they pay no one for the technology. Due to licensing, Scent-Lok has the upper hand by controlling a larger portion of the available cash base of the market.

I think Scent Blocker does alot in Mossy Oak because they are in bed with Drury Outdoors. Drury is sponsored by Mossy Oak. Scent Bloker offers gear in Real Tree but not as much as Scent Lok. Anything that says Dream Season is going to be Mossy Oak. Personally, I think Mossy Oak is way too dark.
