Sam16
I'd say he's probably around somewhere... May not show himself until november or so... Good luck finding him!
toddyboman
he didn't get big because he was dumb....He not going to parade himself out in the middle of a field everyday. Im going to guess that his main food source has changed so he has moved to it. I'm sure he is still in the area.

wildthing
I think the same thing every year when big bucks disappear on me. It is luck they went underground. I have come to realize that older bucks are very hard to kill. Moving at night and in smaller areas. I always ask the neighbors every year if there were any reports of any monsters taken. I most instances those big boys are around...just hard to pattern. They may present themselves more during the rut.
wtnhunt
Would tend to agree with Todd. Probably in the same general vicinity, but possible food sources could have changed.
mule659
I agree he is probally still around and has moved to a different food source or maybe moving at night mostly

toddyboman
well i got a trail cam up......and i haven't been getting any pics of him......or any bucks for that matter..... There main food source/choice has changed. Here deer are killing acorns right now. So I am not seeing near the deer out in fields as I was a few weeks ago. Gotta change and adept the changes of a whitetail ;):)
Hoyt03
they changed here too about the first week in September, right after they shed the velvet. Now I'm not seeing much buck activity on the cam, but seems the does I was not seeing are now around everywhere.

Your best chance of seeing an old mature buck is in the rut. They always seem to disappear for the first weeks of season. Good Luck
Missed160
Dee need to eat & they follow the best food. So wherever he may have moved, or adjusted his travel to go to a new food source. Try checking out other food sources..
Guest doublelung45
Dont get discouraged In western WI last year there was a 29" wide monster killed on the first day of gun season. The way I understand it, the deer just showed up as a crew was getting ready to start a drive. Nobody in the hunting party had ever seen the deer nor did any of the neighbors and from what I have heard they all scout, shine and have trail cams. I have a picture of the deer somewhere on my computer, I will see if I can find it and post it but believe me when I say, there is no mistaking this deer if it did show up on a trail camera. This is just the info that was passed on via the Email I received incase there is somebody out there who knows the real story for sure but all in all, I guess you just gotta trust that they are there.
