woodsman2230
OK guys, I have this one spot in mind that I would like to hunt but I dont know if it would be a good morning spot. I think I would be a good evening spot but I dont know how it would be in the morning. Here is the situation. Ok about 100 yards inside the woods from a field (which deer use every night) are about 7-10 apple trees with a major trail leading right through it and another trail 90 degrees to the first. There is really no other sign there other than those trails and there are quite a few apples on the ground and more in the trees. I believe that the deer bed about 200 yards up the trail from them and then i believe that there is another bedding area about 200-300 yards on the other side. Do you guys think this would be a good spot to hunt in the morning? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
rhine16
Your information seems a little vague to me, so i cant tell you what to do. But if it was me, and I thought it would be a better evening spot, i'd hunt it in the evening. For at least the first time you hunt the spot. buckbuster11
If you can sneak in there in the morning without walking through the field, or scaring anything that might be in it...it would probably be a good spot to try and catch something grabbing an early morning snack before heading off to thick cover. I'd get in there extra early because deer are likely to be on you right at daybreak when they start coming out of the fields. If you can't get in there without possibly spooking deer that might be in the field, I'd save it for the evenings.

mule659
As others have said...if you can't get in there without spooking the deer it is no good...I'd say evening might be the best bet
AdvantageTimberLou
neither, hunt mid-day during the rut. You won't see many deer but you might catch a nice buck working his scrapes and checking what is new. When the rut is on mid day hunting is great. 10 AM till about 3PM Think about it, bucks up all night long chasing does and not in fear as they know darkness means some security and after a good morning nap its time to check those scrapes and troll for ladies! Try it, you'll be presently surprised!
Ravin R10 man
midday would also be a good time if you can get in there..
The Kid
i would say at night because you got a better chance of not spooking them, if you try to go in the morning and there out there your gonn mess up your spot, and after a week or two and you don't get any results try the morning, but don't ruin the spot by trying to get the buck on the first day. you got plenty of time to wack him so be patient
BowJoe
I say get in there as early as possible and try to stay all day. Depending on how far you have to walk in, maybe take a break mid day one day and grab a bite and a good stretch in the vehicle for an hour or so then get right back in there. Or you could set up a camera on a few trees. That's what they were invented for. Then you'll know for sure.
hatetomiss
I would set up a camera and see whats going on first
Guest antlerhead
apples are like candy to a deer, i probably would not risk going in the morning. because you might run them out. i believe deer have individual personalities in that one day they will eat grass, leaves etc. then other days will eat crops, then who knows what else. morning hunting is so unpredictable your never really sure where the deer could be. they could already be in the woods. i have seen that more than few times. long story short i would hit it in the evenings. sskybnd
id try to sneak in there early in the morning, at least a hour before day light, but would be very cautious of how the wind was blowing, if i got busted i would back out for about a week and than try an evening hunt, or set up on a trail thats far enough away not to get busted and try to catch them coming out,
maytom
Like some other already mentioned, the afternoon until dusk would be the ticket!! Early morning, the deer will aready be there feeding all night on the apples. "IF" you do decide to hunt the morning, be prepared to spook some deer out of the area. Hunting during the rut is another great option, but hunt downwind of the orchard, since the bucks will be scent checking the area first before wandering in. Tuff call either way. Try out both time frames and see what happens.
