Guest Finn
Nice body, but rack needs another year:
beagleboy
I wish I hunted an area where I can pass on deer. I hunt on property where the surrounding deer are shot no matter what they are, so when I see a buck, it would probably be the last time I see him. That great that you can practice QDM. Wish some of the locals would do the same.
wtnhunt
Would be great to be in an area where you could count on letting them go, the deer getting another year, sadly here it is just not that way anymore. I agree he will be a nice one in a year or two Craig. The deer has a lot of potential. Was a time I was passing anything under 3.5, this year afraid I am probably not going to be so selective. Guest Finn
Yeah, I understand what you guys mean. We won't take this one, but not so sure about all the neighbors. Most will pass him, but you never know. I haven't shot a buck with my bow for 4 years, so I'm hoping a big one shows pretty soon.
spineshot
great story on small bucks First of all that buck has a pretty dark rack. we used to shoot the 1-2 year olds when we first started. After we each shot a few we realized we needed to wait. We talked to the neighbors and they agreed. In just a couple of years we have some decent bucks. Check out Avonlkhunter's post in this photo section. This is one of the deer we pasted up last year. We have pictures of him as a 2 year old. His antlers really took off. I take a camcorder along. Video the small bucks and that is just as enjoyable as killing them. Every deer is a trophy
