luvtohnt
I'm getting ready to head out into the woods for my first bow hunting expo. I am so excited!!! I got my broadheads the other day and they are all set. I hope all of the practicing I have been doing will pay off. My nerves have settled a little now but earlier in the day, my stomach was doing all sort of flip flops thinking about this afternoon. Hopefully I can hear that nice thwack sound coming from my bow!!!
okiedog
Best of luck to you this season. My nerves have settled a little now but earlier in the day, my stomach was doing all sort of flip flops thinking about this afternoon. You are not alone with excitment like that. I get that way every year. At the end of season I'am counting down for next year:D
BearClaw
Hope you have a great season! Remember, while we go out to shoot a whitetail, the kill doesn't always make the hunt. Family, friends and the outdoors! Have a safe season and do hope you connect! Relax and enjoy the hunt!!!
wildside
You are not alone with excitment like that. I get that way every year. At the end of season I'am counting down for next year:D Brace yourself! Like okiedog said, that excitement comes back every year like clockwork. In fact, the anticipation of the season is part of the whole experience. When that shot opportunity comes, take a deep breath, remember your anchor points, and shoot with confidence! Most of all, enjoy the hunt, regardless of whether or not you come out of the woods with a notch in your tag. Like BearClaw said, "the kill doesn't always make the hunt", but it sure does help to make it pretty darn sweet!
Tominator
Wait till the dreams in the middle of the night start up. Good luck.
luvtohnt
Just an update. It was a slow night due to the wind but I saw a doe and a fawn. The fawn was chasing a porcupine and really wanted to play. Made the 3 hours there worth it. Thanks for all of the words of encouragement
Brad6639
Heres two very important tips to remember as a first time bowhunter: 1.) dont judge a succesful hunt by a kill, judge it on seeing deer and getting close, the shot will come sooner or later. 2.) Watch your scent and be concerned about it at all times, take every scent precaution step that you can, it will help seal the deal. Once you learn those two tips, the deer will start hitting the ground. It took me 5 years to get my first bow dear, and surprisingly enough, I shot one the first year I didnt care aboot shots, instead I just wanted to see deer and get close. That same year I also started watching my scent, and guess what, that year it all came together!
luvtohnt
Thanks for the tips. I hunt out of a tree stand so far and seeing the deer made it worth it. Nothing worse than going out and getting skunked
