Guest antlerhead
i used those expert shot shells with the same results. i then bought some 3 inch magnum loads with 6 steel shot and had better luck. dont remember what brand ,i quit duck hunting, because i have an addiction to bowhunting. its got to be like being hooked on crack. lol

WaCoyote
dump the steel. just try a box of non - tox shells. They are more expensive but I GUARANTEE if you hit the bird it'll come down. Your ammo costs will be the same at the end of the year with way more kills. STEEL SUCKS! rbduck
If you check my "Doing good in Manitoba" post, in those pics, all those geese were shot with Winchester Experts #3 3"mags except for the 10ga. There are about 8 of us that use these shells all the time(have been for years), very few cripples either pass shooting or over dekes. We use a variety of shotguns also. Those shells just seem to work well for us. Ron
camoman1
Sounds like u aint leading the birds enough....body shots with any brand of shells is going to be iffy. Ive tried a handfull of different shells the past few years and no matter which one i used if i didnt get good hits in the front 1/3 of the bird they didnt always come down like a ton of bricks. Pellets in the head whether they come in a $10 box or a $30 box = dead ducks
double_drop
First of all you should ALWAYS pattern your shells out of your gun. 2nd of all sounds like you are shooting the rear ends off of the birds. Means you are behind them. You need to swing faster.
Guest hunter101
hey thanks for the adivice. i switched over to some federal BB mags 3'' havent hit any birds with them yet haha. i was thinking about picking up a box of non-toxic loads but howley they are just too expensive at the local store. stevebeilgard
feathers flying doesn't mean that the birds are close enough. wait until they drop their feet to land, and bust them at 25 yards or less. also, a going away shot allows the pellets to burrow under the feathers, and penetrate easier. a front on shot gives you lots more problems. i used tungsten, and it worked great. Guest beardstowndeerhunter
go with 3 1/2 in 2 or 4 shot and go with the full choke lead them if there far if they are close put it on them
xOZx
3" triple Bs! You CANNOT kill a duck TOO dead. Besides...I ain't into chasing them...and I ain't feeding a danged dog!
