The Pens seem to have hit a wall.If they don't start scoring this is going to be short series.Their superstars need more ice time and they need to capitilize on their chances. The Pens have been playing a physical series, but they need to put some points on the board. It looks like the wings are playing some of their best hockey when it matters the most.

Hmmmmmm, let's see. I'm not a math teacher, but I've been told (since I'm a bandwagon hockey fan) that to win Lord Stanley's cup you must win the best of 7 games, let's seeeeeee, ummmmm, that means you have to win 4 games, correct? Let's seeee, hmmmmmmmm, Wings are up 2-0, hmmmmmm, Penguins have to win 4 to win, hmmmmm, 4 plus 2 that the Wings have already won, hmmmmm, yep, they'll at least have to take it to game 6.

But what do I know, I've only been cheering for the Wings since 1989, so I guess my math doesn't count.:D

Sure sure sure...I could change my avatar and claim the same thing. I don't make excuses for the Pens..when they are outplayed that's just what it is.

If I was the coach, Malkin would be riding the pine tomorrow night.

He may be a good player, but it is very plain to see that the Cup finals has him bewildered :o, I think that he is hurting the team more than helping. I know that he is only a kid but .........

Is he scared ? Is he hurt ?

The first goal last night was his fault, no doubt. Then again, none of the Pens seem to be able to handle the Wings :o

I dont think you bench him ... look at DatZuk (sp) he doesn't score much during the playoffs and certainly not much during the cup but his presence on the ice is priceless he makes plays happen sometimes its not about the score but what makes the score possible ...

Unless you are Cleary and you making a diving slap shot in front of the net then its all about how good you are .... or how bad the goalie really is lol:D :p

By the way Punnkinslinger ... you have officially started back peddling lol ... going from "book it in 5" to " I can say when my team is outplayed" is back peddling. lol :p:D

Nope I tell it like it is and not run and hide like some sissy girls have on here during other sports issues. Some go on and on...the ice was bad, the refs were bad, yadda yadda yadda. That is back peddling and whinning. I man up! Any further inquiries? Some on here are only as big as the screen they hide behind.

The invincible Detroit defense machine sits in on a Pens offense seminar. Game could have just as easily been 6 or 7 -2 with all of the Pens' near misses. Osgodd doesn't look so sharp when his D-machine comes apart.

Still a long way to the Cup. But the Wings are not the end all.

LOL I seriously would not claim this game as a stomping ... unlike the 2 in Detroit ... seriously how can you call that a stopming ...

Let me get this straight ... the whole game detroit never had any near misses or chance goals ... and the penguins had all the missed oportunities ... that is such a one side grasp at desperation to say my team is gonna win as I have ever seen in my entire life ... seriously the woulda shoulda's dont get your name engraved on the cup ...

You do realize it takes a victory in Detroit for your team to win the cup right? ... you know where the D-machine as you call it plays so very very good ...

Hopefully last night's game is an indicator of the type of hockey we'll be seeing from here on out. It's the kind of play I was expecting in Games 1 & 2 and didn't see. After last night, there's some hope for seeing some good old nail-biter playoff hockey. I'm seriously considering taking some blood pressure medicine before game 4. :D I paid for the whole couch........but I only used the edge. :o

Man that sucked.:(

I actually thought that was the best game the Pens played all series, but they just couldn't put one in the net. Detroit again played a tremendous defensive game.

The biggest difference in this series is Osgood outplaying Fleury and the complete disappearance of Malkin. Fleury has played just great except he has let 1 very weak goal in each of the last 3 games. That backhander he let in for Detroits second goal was weak and was just a killer.

Malkin on the other hand, a complete disaster. I was actually screaming for him to get benched towards the end of that game. I don't know if he is injured or if he is just nervous beyond belief but that is not the same guy I've watched play all year. I bet he had at least 7 turnovers in this game and on that 5 on 3 towards the end he couldnt even handle a simple pass.

.....both teams played well..........

Were you watching the same game as me???????? The Pens stunk the place up. Yvgeni Malkin needs benched (needed benched for all 4 games thus far).

That last 5 on 3 was incredible.

Steve

Incredible in that the hottest offense in the NHL couldn't push a puck in with a 2-man advantage and even gave up a shot on goal to Detroit. :(

Incredible........

Just read this after I posted. I guess I'm not the only one feeling that way.

Malkin can't pee and hit the ground this series. The kid must be a major head-case. How can you have a playoff performance like he did then completely choke in the big dance???:confused::confused:

He completey disappeared since he scored that short handed goal against Philly in Game 1 after getting leveled by Richards. Either he is injured or he has just been getting hit so much that it's taking him way off his game. This series is 4 games in and lines 2 and 3 don't have a point yet. Can't win that way.

I don't think he's injured. Could be all the hits. But, for cryin' out loud.............he's missing passes and dishing the puck straight onto Detroit tape in open ice. He missed passes tonight that I coulda handled. :(

Must be nerves then. Hard to believe a guy who is one of the top 5 players in the league has confidence that low at this point.

If I were coaching that game...Malkin would have been sitting on the bench next to Stahl. They both wifted on several light/easy passes and missed shots on goal. They both looked slow and just didn't want to be there.

Not going to win the cup playing hockey like that!

Malkin is alot like Datzuk the last few years never ever did anything in the playoffs or the big dance ... now look what his (Datzuk) presence on the ice does ... hes young give him a chance ... besides if he wasnt on the ice Detroit wouldn't have to put a man on him and they would be able to double up on someone else ... presense on the ice sometimes counts for everything.

On a second note Zeterburg (sp) all the way for the Con Smythe (sp) has he not played an incredible series, even Penns fans have to give it to him ...

I believe it will be done in Detroit on Monday I just hope that Detroit doesn't make it as close .... they have serious momentum after this last game ...

I don't think it'll be done in 5.

The odds of the Pens pulling off a cup win are steep. But I don't see it being over tomorrow night.

There's been some dang good hockey in this series (there's been some that sucked, too). I'd hate to see it all end too soon. :(
