Guest ballhagen06
I recently put out my trail camera on a family farm. and i got a picture of a non tipical buck that i believe will score close to 170. I know where he is feeding but all of my pictures are at night. If anyone can help i would really appriciate this. he is the biggest deer i have ever seen. Ravin R10 man
Is he using the same trail? and what time is he coming out? You may have to go into closer where he is bedding and catch him in daylight....
buckee
You need to set up a stand or ground blind, back in the bush, between his feeding and bedding area. JMO;)
Guest ballhagen06
well i got some pictures of him last night. one at about 9:50 which is about 3 hours after dark. about 5 at 12:30 and about 8 at 3:30 this morning. i am not sure exactly where he is bedding because there is cut timber all over the place. but yes he is on the same trail every time. njbowhunter27
good luck he is that big for a reason. he is nocturnal your best bet would be to drive him out during the gun season.

wildthing
tough one there...it is early season and his pattern for movement is at night. I would keep the camera on him and see if his movement starts to change the closer it gets to the rut in your area. Eventually, he is gonna want to start snooping for some does and may give you a shot during light at some point. If he is a mature deer...he isn't going very far. Even in the most pressured areas...mature bucks don't travel very far... keep an eye on him...
Texan_Til_I_Die
Right now we've got a 3/4 or more moon that rises about and hour and a half after sundown. Wait until the moon is dark in a couple of weeks and you might have a better chance. I would also be careful about spooking him. If he does get a good look or smell of you, he might just abandon the area altogether. Good luck.
wtnhunt
Welcome to the forums. You need to set up a stand or ground blind, back in the bush, between his feeding and bedding area. JMO;) This is probably what I would try to do too.
rhine16
Your best chance is to back out until the rut, but heck, who is gonna do that? Like said above, he is that big for a reason. He will more than likely stay primarily nocturnal until the rut. Good luck.
Guest ballhagen06
thanks guys. i have moved my stand just a little bit but not to far to bump the deer out of there. but just maybe i can get this deer to walk in front of me in daylight. boy i am hoping so. i believe he would be a once in a lifetime bow kill. pictures are under "what do you think he will score and how old is he"
Guest tarbaby
I have been in your situation before and blew it. I got all excited and was trying to figure where to go and what to do. I ended up being dumb with my decisions of hunting stands with bad wind and so on. The one thing I can say is this early in the season, whatever you do, hunt smart. Hang your stands where there is no way a deer can spot you or smell you. Getting busted right now is the last thing you need. I have learned to not get very aggresive with my stands until it cools down towards the end of Oct. I hunt the edges of fields where nothing can get behind me and where there is no chance of bumping deer go to and from the stand. You are obviously near his home and as long as he feels safe he will stay. If he smells one of your trails you have walked or anything like that he will be gone most likely. I would stay real safe till the end of Oct. then find a place to rattle or get in a funnel for the rut. Hope this helps! Jason
dbHunterNY
Hunt his travel routes If you can find out where the big buck is bedded then hunt his travel route to the feeding grounds. If you do like many have said be smart. If the wind or stand location isn't right then don't hunt anyway. First, see if he's hanging around just in the edge of the field/feeding area. The only problem with this is trying to setup on him, when he could be chasing does all over just inside the cover. Try not to call him in unless you see him and are trying to bring him in closer. If he's with a doe, then you may want to try calling in the doe and have him follow. -Dan
Abear
Travel routes and when the hunting activity is at its peak all around you go to the thick stuff. If is that big he has to go somewhere.
LV2HNT
wait for the rut obviously if you dont whack him before...wait until the rut and you should have a good shot of whacking him in the daylight...or if you have a big food source on your farm....if you dont kill him at the rut you could always ahve a chance during winter on a food source.
