Strut_Buster
HEvi shot never patternd as well out of my 12 ga that it did out of my 20 ga. I think for the shot Question you could go with Winchester Supremes High Velocity with number 6's. I get the best pattern with that. If your only using this gun fror turkey ok.. but i would lean to the 835 for some reason. But wither gun will work great.
slaw
Re: Mossberg 935 question After using 2 different 835s, and folding up 2 longbeards up like a cheap umbrella out to 50 yrds, I purchased my own 835...suree, it kicks like a mule , but in the heat of the moment it's not bad, I can handle that since i only shoot it few times a year. snapper
Re: Mossberg 935 question I don't own any Mossberg's but would assume the 935 (being a semi) would be heavier than an 835 and would kick a little less. I use a Hastings choke out of my 870 with 3 1/2" heavy shot and love the results. You may want to try a few different chokes before buying one if you can. huntn4bucks
Re: Mossberg 935 question I have read that the 935 doesn't cycle 2 3/4" shells very well and that Mossberg recommends only shooting 3" and 3 1/2" shells. I shoot a Benelli SBE and have gotten good results with Winchester Supreme Hi-Velocity 3 1/2" #5s with a Kick's Gobblin Thunder choke tube in .665 constriction. I switched to Hevi-shot and a MAD SuperMax choke in .675 constriction last year and to be quite honest...the results are not that much better. Of course there are many factors that contribute to a well patterned gun and what works for some may not work for others. Best of luck and let us know what you finally decide. Chrud
Re: Mossberg 935 question I haven't shot a 935, but it is a pretty comfortable gun to shoulder. It's barrel is overbored to 10 gauge I believe. It is heavier and gas operated, so I would assume the kick would be less than an 835. But, most any 12 gauge with a 3" or 3 1/2" shell will kick pretty stout.
punkinslinger
Re: Mossberg 935 question I have an 835 and installed a recoil pad from Limbsavers...what a difference. Last spring I was trying out some chokes and different rounds and must have shot 12 to 15 rounds over half being 3 1/2. No problems!!!!
