Thats good to hear HG! I was out Saturday and Sunday. Sunday I just saw a couple of does but the woods were quiet, I think do to the 20 mph wind. Sunday was a lot bettersaw three Bucks one was nice the other 2 were spikes. I saw about 7 does. I was about to let an arrow fly at one of the does when she stepped right behind a tree ans I was half way squeezed on my backtention release! Not sure how it didnt go off when I let the arrow down!! lol No shots this weekend but the rut is heating up. We saw a ton of does and several bucks out in fields on the way back to the stands after lunch break that my buddy insisted we take!!!! I am hoping to get out Friday maybe or Sunday. Good luck team!

Been out a few more times, and seen nothing to shoot. My son and I have been upstate at our land to try and get a shot at the bear that has been spotted locally. No luck.

Last night brought in a killing frost,27degrees. The coldest it has gotten all year. That ought to get the bucks movin' down here. I also just was mailed another doe tag for my area from NYSDEC. I was turned down when I requested it and received a preference point for next year. The letter they sent said not enough people applied for that unit so there are extras. I'll take it. This tag will be filled for the venison donation program. I had to buy another freezer to keep the 2 deer my son shot this year. With 2 of us collecting venison, space gets tight in the freezer.

Hope everyone got to get out a bit and enjoy outside this weekend.

Go Team APH!!!

Nice Buck Ambuscher...Well done!

MY son and I were out this weekend in The Catskills of New York. We are in a 3 on one side area for the bucks and the doe tags are given out VERY sparingly.

I saw a spike and about 20 turkeys. One busted me, sent out the PUTT alarm as I was drawing on them, and that was that, they were gone:(.

Cool hunt none the less.

Seen nothing else this weekend.

We also dropped of my sons buck at the Taxidermist.

www.nevestaxidermy.com

While we were there, the taxidermist got a few pics sent to him on his cell phone from his son, who is hunting in Pike county, Ill as we speak. He knocked down a 180" (green) buck. We saw the pics on the cell phone...Ohhh! one day. He is doing a full body mount. Cool.

I'll post the when Joe gets his mount back.

We have the three point rule here, too.And on the public land hunt we are allowed to shot a doe. On day one I had a spike and a very small six point come through about an hour apart. I did manage to get a bobcat before I climbed out of my stand on that day. Day two I had a doe and two little ones come by, but couldn't get a shot at the doe. Good thing though because about thirty minutes another doe came running by me with this buck in tow.

Well team...opening day came and went.

I shot a doe last Sunday morning and did not see any shooter bucks. There is a antler restriction of 3 on one side in the area I hunt. It makes it a tough hunt:( But...I filled my doe tag:) In my usual spot...in my food plot:D .

10 deer have met my freezer from that stand. Its a keeper.

I came home for Turkey and to see my wonderful wife and kids:D get clean clothes, a few of my sons and back up to camp!

How is everyone else doing?

Have a Happy Thanksgiving all, say a prayer for and keep in mind the soldiers of Our Great Country who can't be in their tree stands hunting or with their families this holiday.

Here is a pic of the doe and my trusty 30/30;)

She was the medium sized doe in the bunch of 5. Didn't want to shoot the fawn or the lead doe. Have plenty of meat in the freezer from my sons 2 deer. I got lucky taking her, she was a dry doe, mature but not lactating, so the perfect management deer. Here is also a 30lb yote and my son skinning it, that was shot on a drive last saturday.

Got back a few hours ago from deer camp. Personally I shot nothing, had many flat heads in my sights and no shooter bucks. Went on a bunch of drives, and almost every drive produced deer. Saturday morning a 8 pointer was taken on one of the drives. A coyote was dropped on the run on another drive, by my neighbor Bob...cat smile.gif with his .243 . 2 doe were taken on a certain not to be mentioned golf course tongue.gif Its OK ...we were with the caretaker wink.gif . Jeez a lot of walking driving a golf course... pant... pant...people rent carts for this and we were hoofin' it in the snow. We kept chasing a flock of turkeys from one wood lot to another on the course, a lot of laughs.

Had some nice snow Sunday morning and the temps dropped. Made walking anywhere a crunch fest. My walk this morning showed me how the deer are pawing at the snow to get to food plot greens. The apple trees to my suprise are STILL holding apples!

Hope everyone did better.

A few pics from the weekend.

The drive that produced a 8. Thats me on the far left.

Guys it looks like my doe is NG for the contest. I did not take any pics with the deer so it doesn't count.

I was unable to take a pic with the doe and she went right to my friend who cut it up for me.

Sorry Team :(.

Ya know if it was a whopper buck I'd understand...but its just a 5 pt doe. So competitive...But rules are rules. I didn't follow them by taking a pic with the deer. DUH!

No problem, if I was you I would just be ticked at the ones that got to count for the teams that also didn't follow the rules. There's atleast one that didn't have a tag picture, and one that the deer has been caped and started to be quartered up. I'm not one to raise a stink, but it just don't seem fair that all of us don't have to follow the rules. Just for this fact this will be the last year that I'll sign up for any of the contests on here.
