How my opening day went...

I had a pretty good opening morning. At about 6:45am I had a buck walk through about 60-70 yds. away. I couldn't tell how many points or anything but he looked big. I almost missed seeing him altogether. By the time I noticed him, I only had a few seconds to look at him.

Then about 8am I had two does walk through and give me a 15 yd. shot opportunity. I drew back, but couldn't get my sight pin lined up right, and they walked out of range. I have a peep eliminator which only allows me to see my pin when my form is perfect. If my form is even a little off, my pin disappears. Tough break...but only the first day of the season. Of course, after they left I drew back and simulated the shot again, and the pin lined right up.

I went out at night to a different stand...didn't see a thing. I was second guessing my stand selection the whole time I was in it. Maybe I should have listened to myself...lol

I sure enjoyed being out there...and I hope everyone else enjoyed their time out too.

Here are a few pics from the morning stand I was in:

Bow in Illinois, you hit the nail on the head when you said: "I sure enjoyed being out there...and I hope everyone else enjoyed their time out too".You have a great outlook on hunting. To me that's exactly what I'm talking about. I love being out there, away from work, fresh air in your lungs, looking at the wildlife and if "MR BIG" gives you the opportunity, it's a plus. You got some great hunting land. Good luck with your season.

At least you saw some activity in the morning Eric. Still lots of time....I'm sure you're going to have lots more close encounters this Fall.

And I always question if I'm sitting in the right spot or not.....but then when you sneek an arrow behind the shoulder of that deer....you can smile and say...."yup...picked the right spot!!"
