toddyboman
Lets hear your predictions.... Cubs vs D.Backs Rockies vs Phillies Angels vs Red Sox Yankees vs Indians
Tominator
D-backs Phillies Angels Tribe--even though they traditionally have trouble with the Yanks. I like the pitching matchups there though. C.C. and Carmona have to come through.
muggs
Really going to be a tough year to predict...but I'll say Cubs in 4 Phillies in 5 Angels in 5 Tribe in
toddyboman
I agree muggs this is very tough to predict. Two of the hotter teams in baseball are facing each other right out of the gate. LOTS of key injuries on different teams. Its going to be very interesting..... Oh and a side not TBS is going to have the first round of games:rolleyes::p:D:D My picks...... D. Backs Phillies Red Sox Yankees
buckbuster11
Cubs Philly Red Sox Indians---my gut feeling says Yanks but I'll go with the Tribe solely on their overwhelming pitching advantage...on paper anyway.
MCH
Dbacks, Phils, Angels and Yanks. I do like the Tribe, though. But I've got to go with the flow. Yanks have had the Tribe's number this year, sweeping them twice. I just can't see them winning 3. But I'll be rooting for them since they're the underdogs. Master_Chief
D.Backs Phillies Red Sox Indians I would really like to see the Sox and the Tribe go at it again.
craig mack
D-Backs Phillies Angels Yanks I think the Angels will beat the Phillies in the world series. This should be a great playoffs.

But I'll be rooting for them since they're the underdogs. 3 of those losses were with Cliff Lee and Jeremy Sowers on the hill for the Tribe though, and neither one of those guys will make the post season roster. AND the Yankees haven't faced Sabathia since 2003! He was good back then, but he wasn't close to the groomed ace he is today. Not to mention, Carmona has been the best pitcher in the game since the All-Star break. That whole "Yankees swept the season series" thing is so blown out of proportion, that LeBron James saying he's routing for the Yankees leading last night's local news thinks it's weak.

That just cracks me up.:D It kind of sums up every argument you've had on here where you're defending "your" team. Blown out of proportion and weak.:D
VABuckSlayer
Cubs Rockies Red Sox Yankees I'm predicting Rockies and Yankees in the Series with the Yankees winning their 27th Championship!!!! Eric
muggs
Why is Lebron rooting for the Yankees? Who cares. The local sports hacks and news hacks are really all over it too. It's the hip-hop influence, the trendy thing to do...whatever. I could care less what baseball team he roots for. If he was rootiong for the Knicks, I'd take issue. toddyboman
I heard on the radio Lebron is a life long Yankee fan. As a kid he rooted for them.

Blown out of proportion and weak.:D He's used to it Kev. It's the Browns smear wearing on him. You see, the Browns don't have a winning record against anybody. Everybody kills them. So, muggsy has to trick himself into thinking that even though a certain team has beaten the Browns 97 times in a row, they (the Browns) can and probably will beat that team the next time they play. If he didn't think like that, there would be no hope in Brownsland. He's just carrying that line of thinking over into baseball, that's all. Don't pretend like the "chosen one", the hometown boy, rooting for the Yanks doesn't burn you. Maybe Lebron is just trying to make friends in the New York crowd for when he cans Cleveland and signs with the Knicks in a few years. Maybe Lebron is just trying to make friends in the New York crowd for when he cans Cleveland and signs with the Knicks in a few years. The word that best describes my reaction to a scenario like that would be...."eh" as I shrug my shoulders. Not into hero worship at all man. Anyway John, if a team has won 97 times in a row against another team, the chances that they'll lose the next only increase...percentage-wise anyway. MCH
Anyway John, if a team has won 97 times in a row against another team, the chances that they'll lose the next only increase...percentage-wise anyway. That only works with flipping a coin. If one team has beaten another team 97 times in a row, the odds that the losing team will win gets smaller every time....not greater. Gotta love the logic, though. "Hey, they've beaten us 6 times in a row. The odds they can beat us 3 more times in a row are pretty bad. Heck, we should be favorites.":D:D
muggs
Kev, actually, the logic is very sound, drawn from mathematical principals like entropy etc... Say, for example, if a place kicker has made his last 50 attempts, the odds of a miss increase exponentially with every successful attempt thereafter. He could go on to make his next 1,000 kicks, and every time the odds of a miss would continue to increase, thus making the event (unsuccessful attempt) that much more likely to occur on his next attempt. Ah, math, ya know rules of the universe and that sort of thing, it's anything but fickle ey? btw- take Midol for any cramps, Tylenol for any pain.:D Not to mention, that was July...this is October. ESPN's over analysis can go right out the window.
toddyboman
What about experience where does that factor in...... And lets not forget these are the freaking Yankees. The team we all or at least most of us hate but they always win. Remember a few months back we was all as happy as could be because they was sucking royally and looked to have no chance of making the playoffs.....And look what they did and where the are...

LMAO. "increase exponentially".:D Everybody got their hipwaders on today?? It's getting deep in here.:D Ok, instead of a placekicker, let's use this example: Let's say the New England Patriots play our local high school team, the Idabel Warriors. Using your logic, if the teams play 1,000 games and say the Patriots happen to win 900 in a row, that on the 901st game, the odds the Warriors were to win would be "increased exponentially"???:D Here's another question: Using your logic, if a team loses 6 out of 6 games to another team, how long before they losing team wins 3??:D Logic tells me it would take more than 5 games. They were wrote off and now look... the Evil Empire is right there. Now granted we may loose 3 straight to the Tribe but I'm just happy they made it to the playoffs. Didn't look so good at the All-Star break. However... with the way they've been playing lately I think another Championship is in the future. I sure hope so anyway!
