Guest HoppeMan
Well, after Sunday's game, we still need a new QB in Chicago. Two picks on the goal-line, one pick returned for a score, that comes to 21 points that Griese gave the Lions. He can't throw the ball downfield. He was throwing behind every receiver. I have never liked Griese, and have no more reason to like him now. Your thoughts on this? Take care, Nathan
buckbuster11
My thoughts are what I have been saying for 3 years. All Chicago QB's stink. Everybody was calling for Grossman's head which is all well and good if you have somebody capable behind him. Actually I shouldn't say all the Chicago QB's stink. The only one of the three to play and not completely sabotage the rest of the team is Kyle Orton. They should have never yanked him at the end of the season for Grossman like they did 3 seasons ago. ilhnter
I think they should have kept Grossman as the starting QB. the game against the Lions just showed that the quarterback is not the reason for the offensive slump. Yea he was throwing too many interceptions, but it wasn't his fault the offense was off to a slow start and everyone saw on sunday that Griese didn't do any better. The problem with the offense is that they have NO running game at all. Benson just isn't getting it done. Sunday he had 15 carries for 50 yds, thats it. So the bears were forced to throw the ball 52 times. Defenses are figuring out that the Bears can't run the ball and they are just sitting back in coverage, and the QB's are trying to force throws. I also think they should have left Grossman in because he is in his contract year, let him play and see if he comes out of his slump and plays well the rest of the season so that you can make a decision to bring him back or not. Griese is not the QB of the future, so why play him. In not Grossman then it should have been Orton playing. But in my opinoin they should have left Grossman in. Grossman was my favorite QB, and it was like losing my right arm when they announced Griese of all people was starting. As for Orton, that's how my Dad strongly feels. I like Orton, but I just feel that Rex shoulda been kept in. Take care, Nathan
muggs
Grossman turns the ball over way too much. Griese isn't great, but I think he'll come around with more playing time and will turn out to be a much better option than Rexy. Throwing behind receivers is a sign of a guy who's out of rythmn, and rythmn comes with playing the game. I'm not sure what year Griese made his last start, but it's been a while...rust is to be expected. Heck, if you can handle a snap, you should be starting over Grossman. I agree with John though, I'd like to see what Orton can do. But, I think the bigger issue was the decision to let Thomas Jones go. I'm a huge fan of dual runningbacks, and the Jones/Benson combo was great. Not to mention, Jones was the better of the two.
deerslayer79
Orton practically vanished when they sat him, nothing to be heard from.I believe if he can get the rust worked out start him and sit the other two and see what happens,it can't get much worse. dogdoc
maybe it has something to do with the offensive line also????
c_lou
maybe it has something to do with the offensive line also???? Or perhaps they have a glass jaw, powder puff playing running back. It was a good choice to get rid of a 1200 yard back in favor of one that has never shown to be any good. GOOD MOVE!
Guest Zirkel
Bronco fan here, glad we got rid of Griese a long time ago. Zirkel
Guest Mountain_Dragon
Griese was a bad QB here in Denver. He was a bad QB in Miami. He's a bad QB in Chicago. He may have the skills, but the problem is he's not a leader. A QB needs to come out with the confidence that the offense can get the job done. Griese has never shown that attitude. When he was here he always looked like a deer caught in the headlights. He was scared to be on the field. If the rest of the team doesn't have confidence in the QB, they will never gel and get that rhythm. I feel sorry for any team that ever has Griese in the lineup. Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike the guy. He's really a very nice guy. He just doesn't have what it takes to be an NFL quarterback. If it wasn't for his name he would have been out of the league a long time ago.
