Hardwood_HD
if i even keep the hide, and dont mount it, i just salt it.. i even tried this homemaid tanning solution that i saw how to make somewhere and it worked ok, i guess it depends what your gonna use it for, if you want to just hang it on the wall i would just salt it then clean it
razortec_hunter
well i dont want the hide to be stiff. i want it to be floppy kinda like a rug or something. but i wont make it into a rug. but i want it that nice smooth tan color and have it really flexible. ?????????????????? Tominator
Might get more, better answers here. On the rare occasion when I tan, I use salt.
RTF
Salt is not a tan. Salt only withdraws the nasty bacterial fluid within the hide to set hairs. You could DP the squirrel by using Borax. Only after salting. Another thing you could try at home is a rub on tan such as Tanning Formula's Good Luck.
artisticwhitetails
I would Krowtann it, then use the Krowoil and follow the included instructions on "breaking" the hide. Works great. Call Brian at Ozark Woods for Krowtann, or order from WASCO, Vandykes or Mckenzie Supply. Ozark Woods 1-800-467-0369

brudaman340
all the advice they gave you is great advice i tanned a deer hide and it really depends on how hard you feel like working i never tanned a squirell and it should be fairly easy to break the fibers and all you do is stretch it on a hard surface like a saw horse corner but just tan it with a tanning kit either out of van dykes which i believe i used or wasco dont try stupid homemade tanning methods unless you dont care that it dont last if you want to experiment though be my guest no homemade tanning ideas are guarenteed i think a tanning kit is like 20 dollars and you probably would be able to tan like 40 squirells with it one kit does a deer hide so good luck and have fun
