Master_Chief
Was on fire last night. After 8 innings he had thrown 73 strikes and 23 balls. That's less than 3 balls per inning. He was awesome. Go Sox.
Guest Finn
What a great performance...that was fun to watch, even though I'm not a BoSox fan.
muggs
He really steps it up in the playoffs, but Fausto's the better pitcher.

muggs
Fausto's the best pitcher in the AL, it's just that nobody realizes it yet and Beckett will get all the credit because he plays in Boston. Carmona has such electric stuff it led Torri Hunter to say "his sinker moves so much, I thought I was hung over" and he fires that same sinker up there at 95+ mph. After facing the Yankees lineup and retiring 14 in a row in 2005 (when Carmona was 20 years old) spring training Jeter said "if there's a better pitcher in baseball, I've never faced him." Pretty high praise from two All-Stars. Beckett is a great pitching, and I'll listen to the arguemenet he's better than Fausto...but, not "much better." Some food for thought. Fausto led the Majors in a 2.88 groundball/ fly ball outs. (Beckett was towards the bottom with 1.11) Fausto a 3.06 ERA to Becketts 3.27 Still acheived 19 wins with the third worst run support in the majors Beat Johan Santana twice in two matchups...once by throwing a complete game shutout Allowed 9 less bases while pitching 15 more innings
buckbuster11
Wow, muggsy look at you using logic and facts to help prove your point. Well done. You should try this during football discussions at some point. As much as I want to argue this ridiculous statement..... Fausto's the best pitcher in the AL, .......I'll just be quiet and let you bask in your glory.

That "ridiculous" statment, as you put it, has been echoed by several AL players, as well as Managers, and even ESPN analysts (which may or may not discredit it:rolleyes:). It's not as much "ridiculous" as it is "ahead of the curve." Give it two more seasons, and everyone will be telling you that. btw- If you say Johan, I'll say 'ole Johan gave up the most HR's in the AL, went 0-5 against the Tribe, and Fausto beat his tail both times they matched up...I'll let you take that for what it's worth bud. btw2- for the past three years, he's been known as one of the top Tribe prospects, and that's one of the deepest farm systems in the majors...so it's not exactly like this is coming out of leftfield. buckbuster11
Listen bud, just because Tim Kurkjian said so doesn't mean you have got to screaming from the rooftops. Pull your head away from Baseball Tonight for a few seconds and get back into the real world.

Pull your head away from Baseball Tonight for a few seconds and get back into the real world. John, remember a few years ago when I said in a PM to you "remember this name, Fausto Carmona." That was after I saw him pitch for the Lake County Captains, the Tribe's A team (they play 2 minutes from my front door). And also remember that I reminded you of him again before this season began (don't deny it like a DB either). Trust me, I don't need Tim Kurkijina to tell me anything about sports. I could do his job 10x better than he can, plus my voice isn't like fingers nails on a chalk board like his...and I'm much better looking.
buckbuster11
Oh I see, so because you saw him pitch 2 years ago in A ball that means he is the best pitcher in the AL? Sounds like a little bit of a man crush to me. Brady will be mad when he hears about this.
muggs
It was more like 4 or 5 years ago. That game, Carmona pitched a complete game shut out and struck out 16 hitters....he was 18. You watch his sinker, you'll see what I mean.

muggs
Fausto...9 IP, 3 hits allowed, 1 earned run, 5 K's and he struck out ARod to end the 9th inning with the go ahead run left on second base. He was one mistake pitch (a hanging slider Cabrera sent over the RF wall) from a complete game shutout. If that was Josh Beckett...Sportscenter leads with it and makes a huge five minute story out of that performance...but since it was Carmona, they focus more on the freaking lake midges and didn't even really mention how badly the high priced Yanks got shut down by a 23 year old Dominican who makes 19.5 million less a year then both ARod and Jeter. I don't want to say I told you so...but I told you so.
