Guest onesonek
I'm new here, so I thought I would introduce myself and showoff some my work. Dave Jansen is the name, and I live in Pipestone, MN. I got into making holsters, scabbards and pack rigs by accident. It is growing into a fulltime business. And since so I became licensed by Jordan Outdoors to use their camo patterns in the making of my product. Here's just a few of the 100+ I have built so far. maytom
Nice work!! Leather rigs will make the most NOISE over other materials. Good fabric choice and models!!
Guest onesonek
Thanks!!! Actually maytom, it depends on the type of leather and how they are constructed. My leather rigs are almost dead silent. And the Nylon/Poly ones are substantially quieter than the,,,errr, well I won't get into bashing the others out there. I came up with the design and construction method cuz I wasn't happy with what was available. I just wanted to make one for myself, and showed to a few bud's. After 5 -6 reguest to "make me one", I figured there must be a viable market. So started the hobby,,,and in a short year's time became a business. It is still aways off from where I would like it to be, replacing my day job income. But it's comming along at a steady growth rate, so it'll get there. jcwa
I have some questions. Looking at the top pic, can you add a flap with a snap to that style holster? Can you shape the pocket on the side into 5 or 6 smaller bullet pockets? Are you able to make them in hardwoods green or the new APG? And what would be the price on that style holster? Guest onesonek
Ok, first the cartridgeloops/pocket ? jcwa. I fashion those with 1 1/2" elastic (2 loops) then cover to hide the rounds. Although the pocket will hold a 3rd round. I can go to 1" elastic for shorter rounds. Then it depends on what gun it's built for and how much room available. A storm flap is not a problem, although I'm not fond of snaps. They are noise makers, as is velcro. I prefer the loop and toggle closer, but it's your holster, I'll do my best to build the way you want. Which brings us to the fabric pattern. I'll have to do some looking for either of those two. The thing with the types of fabric I use, 600D Polyester, or 5-1000D Cordura Nylon. It is were you can find it. I'm not in the position to go to the mills and buy 5000 yds, and the brokers want 100 yds or more. I have to deal with wholesalers, and they don't stock everything. I'll do some searching though. Scoped rigs with cartridge loops/pocket. are $79.00 + shipping and Insurance, which runs normally right around $10.00. Add another $10.00 for a storm flap option. Dave P.S. I just checked with main supplier of RealTree patterns, and they do have Hardwoods Green listed. So I can get it. Not seeing the APG anywhere.
