What method do you all use to field score bucks? I know that some guys just have a knack at this. I was introduced a couple of years ago to the "Wimpy Buck Scoring System". I guess it was named after the guy who figured out the formula. It is pretty simple: add up all the inches in tine length on one side(brow tine 4 in.- G2 9 in.- G3 8 in.- G4 4 in.= 25 inches) x 2 then add 90 inches(mass and inside spread) or 100 inches if he has a lot of mass or width, and that equals the total score. I have done this for a couple of years and practiced on other guy's mounts and I can get real close! Is there a better way? If so I would like to know.

I have trouble with circumferences.

Seems like I saw a show once that suggested looking and comparing the deers eyes to the circumferences of the antlers. Think the eye circumference is somewhere around 3 inches, if the bases look bigger around than that, then you know they are more than 3 inches, same for other beam measurements.

I have heard of that before. It seems to work pretty well :):)

My favorite quote is "the big ones look big".

Other than that, I like to practice by guessing on bucks that have been scored. I am pretty good on mule deer.
