Well the day started off really bad. I didnt make it to the stand tell 7. I seen a little buck and doe in the field when i got there. I made it to my stand without bugging them. after 3hrs i seen nothing. The high was 88 and we all know how deerhunting goes in warm weather :( well tonight everyone thought i was crazy to go back out tonight. i got n the stand at 5. I was watching the field and seen nothing. well i just looked down at the base of my stand after scanning the field and i looked back up and seen the biggest buck of my life. This guy was the buck of my dreams. He was and the end of the field feeding and the wind was out of the south it was great. Well the wind changed on me and now its coming out of the east and i new he was going to wind me, but he kept feeding and he wouldnt come any closer then 100 years. I didnt know what to do this early in the season so i just sat there and watch him. So if it happens again what do i do in this kind of weather? What works this early to get them to come in? This is only my 3rd year so im kind still learning. This buck i know would have made B&C. Thanks all for the help!

I don't know if I would have done anything. If the wind wasn't in your favor then I would have done nothing. Let's just say you give a few grunts and he came in closer, then he might have winded you. That wouldn't be good cause you might not see that buck for a long time.

You cannot predict what big bucks will do, warm weather or not, they do move!!

I couldn't agree more. It's to bad that you didn't get a shot but it's still early in the season. He'll be back, just stay patient and confident. Good Luck to you this season can't wait to see a pick of the big boy.

i agree with the others there is really nothing you could have done different to help the cause. if an old deers pattern is disturbed, hes gone. moving in closer to where he enters the field might work if he is bedding a good distance a way and you can enter from the opposite direction and only hunt when the wind is right. otherwise stay where you are and hope that doe takes him in range or......... wait till gun season:)
