johnf
We went to visit the inlaws yesterday and MC, my father-in-law was looking pretty bad. He has had a urinary tract infection for awhile. We don't really know for how long because he didn't tell anyone. He is almost 84 and has some early signs of Alzheimer's or dementia and doesn't always tell my MIL when something is wrong. She found out when she saw some puss in the toilet and asked him where it came from. Like I said, he looked really bad last night, we called my wife's brother who is an EMT and they came to check him out. His blood sugar was a little elevated, but his BP was 90/40, his white blood count was very high and the doctors are afraid he's going into kidney failure. I know he's had a long life, but I would like my son to remember his Pa Pa, so please send prayers.

johnf
My wife went back up today and just got back. Her dad was given some lasix ? meds to help with some swelling in his feet. The doctor either forgot or didn't know that it would cause an extreme drop in potassium. The meds basically took out all moisture out of his system which explained the way he looked and his kidneys shutting down and they take out the potassium which explains why he couldn't move. It was basically like his entire body was one big cramp as well as dehydrated. Rough stuff. He's probably going to be in the hospital for a couple more days, but they are treating him well and he's doing much better already. Thanks for the prayers guys.
