Guest ineedaname
I have this encore that I love, but noticed some pitting in the barell right where the lands meet the grooves. It looks pretty minor but it seems to run the length of the barell. I shoot pyrodex pellets and have been shooting pyrodex for 6 or 7 years. Will this affect accuracy really bad? I do not really shoot for groups just for hunting out to 200 yards. I have killed several deer with this rifle but none past 100 yards. Is there any way to fix this or just live with it? str8shooter48
If the accuracy seems to be falling off.Try some JB bore polish and a tight fitting patch and give it about 5 strokes per patch . Do that 10 times or so then clean the bore ad see if the pitting has been reduced. I did the bore on my Encore about 100 strokes shortly after I got it. The rifling shined like a mirror and loading sabots was definitely easier. Seems to have helped accuracy a bit too.
carbonhunter
Look back at bluelks muzzleloading chapters, i think there is a piece on lapping the barrel. i would think that would get it done.
