Guest tarbaby
In an area that i deer hunt i have seen a lot of canada's feedin in the corn fields. So i figured what the heck..i might as well try it. I borrowed 8 20yr old decoys and set them up in the field next to a weedy ravine that i set up in.... i called a few in but not close enough to shoot. i didnt think they felt comfortable landin next to cover.. so the next day i layed out in the middle of the field with camo burlap on top of me with cornstalks on that and man i prolly had a hundred honkers come in but only to groups were confident enough to try to land.. dropped two of them but have no idea how to cook them.... also does anybody have any ideas on a good homemade cornfield goose blind... im hooked but to broke to afford much... the burlap is kind of a pain... just wondering
huntn4bucks
Re: First Geese Congrats on the honkers! I usually just breast them out. They're not the best eating birds IMO so they usually end up in gumbo!
rbduck
Re: First Geese However you prepare the geese, DO NOT overcook them.Cook them until they are just pink(medium). I BBQ, roast, shiskabob, slowcook, stew, smoke, jerk and anything else I can think of. They are one of my favourite eating birds when done right. You might want to scroll back in the recipe forum to find other recipes. Good luck. Ron
