Have yall noticed.

Have yall noticed that the kids that are least likely to get into trouble or anything are the kids of "country folks". These kids like to hunt or rodeo and the such. They seem to have better values and respect for everything. Not meaning that you have to be from the country but have the down home values at heart. I was just wondering if anyone else has made the observation.

Hmmmmmmm..................not too sure about this one. We live in the country and my kids go to a school that is K-12 because it is a small community. But there are just as many kids that like to stay in trouble there as well as the neighboring bigger towns. And yeah, these kids hunt and rodeo too. I just don't see a big difference in this area. Maybe I just think they are trouble makers but if I compared them to inner city kids from places like Chicago and New York then I'd think differently.

The gang and drug problems aren't as big a problem here as they are in other places. But we still have the kids who fight, vandalize, steal, disrespect authority and go to jail.

My dad kept me riding quads and hunting when i was young. Somebody once told him he spent too much on that kind of stuff for me. He told them if he keeps me busy I'm not messing with drugs or getting in trouble. It comes down to that old Idle hand are the Devil's Workshop.................. Unforntunately that was the best thing dad ever did for me. He soon turned to alcohol and ended up taking the wrong road before I was a teen. We didn't talk from the time I was 14 til 23. Got back in contact for about a year but I couldn't handle watching him drink his life away. I do keep my kids busy as well as myself because I know what I do not want to become.

Actually it seems that the only recreational thing for a lot of rural areas is the bar scene. I know the family I have in these areas seem to look forward to "going to the bar" on their nights out on the town. Of course they aren't as apt to get a drunk driving in town neither due to the LEO's being local and knowing everyone as well. In the end, the type of person that you grow up to be is largely factored by your social settings and peers as well as your family's values.

I think it depends on the parents, not the area. I've lived in many different places and there are good and bad kids everywhere. My kids had always been in the city until we moved this year. You all haven't met my kids, but they behave and are respectful.

Those with parents who understand the meaning of discipline generally have good kids, city or country.

I wasn't my Dad's friend until I was out of the house. We got along great, but there was never a question that he was in charge.

People don't understand kids can handle discipline and still love you. ;)

I don't know about that. I've lived in the city my whole life and have never caused any trouble....or no big trouble anyways. :D My dad, grandpa, and uncles always kept me busy hunting, scouting out spots, building blinds, or fishing. I may have lived in the city, but the woods was only a short drive away.

Ohhhhhh.......I hope you didn't mean that in a bad way Andrea....... Pabst Blue Ribbon is a true gift from the beer Gods from up above. Everytime somebody cracks something open other than a Pabst, they have degraded themselves as a true beer drinker. All I can say, is once you drink your first Pabst, you will never ever go back!!

Its not an old mans beer.....Its a vetrans beer. All these young drinkers just starting out see the advertisement for bud, coors, or miller, so thats the first thing they go to when they want a drink. After awhile it gets expensive buying that crap and they experiment with other products. And once they crack that first Pabst, thats what they drink til the day they die because once they discover the excellent flavor and true smoothness and at a cheap price....why drink anything else?
