rhine16
This thread may not catch on, but i thought this would be pretty neat to do. I was just wanting to see some bucks that you had trail cam pics of and were hunting for, that gave you the slip or was killed by someone else. I just have three bucks that would qualify. This buck was captured a few times over the 05-06 season on trail cam. He came in on me one evening while i was letting my bow down. It had just gotten too dark to shoot, but i could still tell it was him. He also got away from me on the last day of rifle seson. I jumped him, but didnt have a clean shot. This is the only pic i could find of him. No clue where he is now. This buck was from 06-07 season. He filled my dreams from July til he was killed on January 10, 2007 by one of our neighbors. He scored 142'' This buck only showed up a few times on our cam. Was killed by same neighbor in December 06. Scored 153". Like i said, no one may want to do this, but if you have the time i would love to see em.
Jorden
This is a picture of a buck from last year that i only got three pictures of and never saw him during the season. I've also gotten pictures of him over the same scrape the past two seasons so hopefully if he's still alive I get him again this year. This is a picture of a deer in velvet early this summer. As you can see his brow-tines are huge but this is the only picture I have of him this year...would really like to see what he looks like with the rest of his rack grown in. slughunter
I had a lot of bucks, but these ones I really wanted: And for some reason I really wanted this big 6-pointer: -shane
arrow32
I hunted for this buck all year last year and he gave me the slip all year. Saw him two times while hunting and never was able to get a shot. He was a monster biggest buck I have ever saw around the farm.
wtnhunt
This one from last year, really upset me. I had drawn my bow on the deer one morning during our archery season, and he was just a few steps from getting into a spot where I had a good clean 22 yard shot on him. I had my bow drawn and had an open shot at 34 yards, but it did not feel right, I questioned a limb, and the way he was heading I knew I would get a better shot if I just held on and stayed patient. Unfortunately the little 4 point out in front of him spooked and took the mature buck along with him back in the direction they came from away from me. We saw this buck again on the youth hunt weekend and my daughter could not get a shot for the shooting rail being too high with the buck in close. He was a good mature 10 pointer, not real tall, but good width and a mature heavy bodied deer. Afraid he got whacked up the road during the rifle season. This was the only pic I got of him. Buckslayer
rhine, there have been 4 deer that have haunted me. The first was a buck I called the ghost buck. A friend and I saw him skirt just outside of bow range on a weekly basis. He was a solid perfect 140" ten pointer. Finally on a rainy cold day in october he slipped in behind my tree and walked right up on me. I turned around to find him at 5 yards, staring right into my eyes. I'll never forget those black saucer eyes he was giving me... scared out of his mind and afraid to budge. I made the first and only move, drawing my bow while slowly swinging around. He made two bounds and stopped on the dam of a pond beneath an apple tree at 23 yards. I settled the pin, not seeing the 1/2" apple branch above the deer that my arrow would happen to strike. It was the only branch there. One branch. I hit it dead on and my arrow deflected into the dirt right in front of his feet. He looked at the arrow, looked me in the eyes, and trotted off over the hill and into the sunlight that just peeked through the clouds after my shot. It was really his day. I wanted to jump out of my stand. I never saw him again. My buddy did see him a few times after that but not within bow range. Never heard of anyone shooting him. Only pic of him: The second deer is a 150+ 11 pointer. I only had a single trailcam photo of him. I hunted hard for him and never saw him. He was a midnight buck, rubbing trees 5 inches in diameter. Here's that pic. He still haunts me even though he probably isn't alive. The third deer is a deer I called bubba jr. He is a 125" 10 point that I shot in rifle season, 2005. I had trail spotting pics of him, and then right before the rut I missed a literally straight down bow shot on him. He was 2 yards or so from the tree I was in. My geometry was off, and I pulled it to the side, stuck it in the dirt, and never got a follow up shot until 4 weeks later. Thankfully he produced offspring that I am currently watching. On 12/03/05 some trespassers scared him to my stand and I shot him at 90 yards broadside. I was lucky to get him. Almost forgot about this eight pointer I missed in 2005 in Ohio during my internship. He was a nice one. Came out to feed 5 minutes before shooting light was over. The night I missed him he came out at 35 yards in a clover field. I thought it was 25. Shot under him, and never saw him again during daylight. Pic of him:
