Then, you have Turkeyfife still screaming about “baptism” and how that everyone has to be baptized in order to go to heaven. This is True you can't go to Heaven without your sins being forgiven Still scratching my head as to what this has to do with the original question about “eternal security”.Well one way is that if your sins are not forgiven, you will have NO security! Even asked for someone, Jeramie, I believe to prove that the theif on the cross was not baptized.Yep, still waiting for that;) To that, I say, prove to me that you have been saved.Don't need too If you say that you have been saved, then I would take it by faith that you have.O.K. Like I take it by faith that the theif on the cross was not baptized.LoL..That don't make any since...LoL Would have been kind of hard for them to take him off the cross alive and baptize him and then put him back up there.I agree! And don’t believe that someone took him to the water and baptized him after he was dead!I don't believe that either! You have caused great confusion in this religious section since you have been here. The Confusion is with you not me, you are use to people saying I AM OK AND YOU ARE OK AND WE ALL LOVE EACH OTHER SOOOO MUCH AND WE CAN BELIEVE YOU ARE SAVED BY SPRINKLING, SOME BELIEVE ONCE SAVED ALWAYS, SOME BELIEVE YOU CAN FALL FROM GRACE, BUT THAT O.K. AS LOONG AS WE ALL ARE HAVING FUN AND LOVE EACH OTHER And the last time I checked, the Bible does state that God is not the author of confusion.THAT IS CORRECT HE IS NOT, Do you remember the vs where Jesus said he sent a soword, Mother against Daughter in Law, was that confusion? Its Truth that is causing the confusion not me, sorry nice try! So, no matter how hard you try to convince everyone else that you are right and they are wrong Its Not who's Right, it's Whats Right…………my Brother, you are doing nothing more than pushing several away Lets get this straight you are not my Brother………including me…………away from ever listening to anything that you say. You do what you need to do, but your Blood won't be on my hands.

Preacherman, I hope you have a GOOD HEART because you are going to infulance many people and I need to help you teach the Gospel more perfect.

Now your putting words in my mouth. I never once said I was unhindered by sin and corruption. I was spiritually dead in my sin before I came to know Jesus as my savior, and am still hindered by sin and corruption, however I am no longer it's slave. I may stumble, but I do not fall, and I give God all the glory for that..

If you are hindered by sin and corruption in your choice to repent, then you deny the Arminian view of free will like me. Free means unhindered, unimpeded, free to choose. I believe in free will in certain sense, that our choices are not compelled by God. But our choices are always made in conformity to our nature, and are therefore, not entirely free.

Preacherman says, "Swampfox, in post #66 you said that “Perserverence of the Saints” is the doctrine that is commonly known as “Eternal Security” or “Once Saved, Always Saved”. That is totally false. Perserverence of the Saints is a statement that is used commonly among religious circles to define a belief that a person has the potential to “forfeit their faith” not “lose your salvation” as some have stated as well."

I disagree preacherman. http://www.theopedia.com/Perseverance_of_the_saints

The perseverance of the saints has always been the name of the Calvinistic doctrine emphasizing that those who are truly saved stay faithful to Christ.

"it gives some the excuse that just because I prayed some prayer or shook the preachers hand or was baptized in a certain stream or joined a church…………..that when I die I am going to heaven regardless of the way that I live" As a Calvinists, I can encourage you to preach hard to dispell this shamefull idea that folks can live as they please afer a so-called conversion.

Turkey................my heart is between me and my God. And you are right, we are going to influence a lot of people in what we say. That is why me, and you need to be careful of what we say and how that we say it. And if you want to know the truth, that is why that I haven't repsonded to this maddness. Because every time that I think that I want to respond there are bullets flying everywhere and I am afraid to stick my head up thinking that I may get shot! And sad to say, but many people in the world feel the same way. I am sorely afraid that some of us are pushing people away from the Lord instead of leading people to Him!

And oh, by the way, as far as help............I think I will defer to God.......He is the only one who has the perfect gospel. Especially since you said that I am lost. You can't save me, only God can, so I think I will just defer to Him as to what is and is not the truth.

O.K. Now, I would disagree with you and the "Theopedia" Take it to 15 Southern Baptist Churches in your area that believe, preach and teach the doctrine of "eternal security" and ask them and I can guarantee you that the majority of them would disagree with you as well.

By the way, if you are a "Calvanist" as you stated.......then you have no need to agree or disagree with the thought of someone forfeiting their faith........because you can't. Matter of fact, you don't have a say so in it at all...........because everything is predestined!

Close thread

Buckee, i believe it time to close this thread. I only opened it in hopes of some lively discussion between Christians & since Im new here, to kinda feel out the way some of you fellers believe.

Honestly the posts here lately would be doing more to drive a nonbeliever away from the Lord than to bring him tto Christs salvation.:mad::mad:

Seriously???You bet! I did not see you PROVE he was not Baptized.

You know, he did not have John's Baptism?

You are the one who said he was not Baptized so PROVE it.

I am willing to addmit I can PROVE he was. However, you said he WASN"T so you must PROVE it.

So Im guessing that if you are baptized as a sinner it doesnt matter as long as youre dunked? The bible calls him a Thief that admits to his sin and admits he is getting what he deserved. If he was Baptized, IMHO it surely wouldnt have meant much!

So technically, you can be Baptized as a sinner and get saved later in life? I guess im just a realist that doesnt reach for straws. I take the scripture for what it is. The man asked for forgiveness and salvation, he received both. Trying to pick apart the bible to prove that he might have been baptized at some point just seems ignorant to me.

Thats like taking the story of casting seeds among the stones and saying, "Well, what if there is a little dirt in the stones? I mean, sometimes you see grass growing from a rock. So whos to say someone didnt pile dirt with them?"

The bible has VERY valid and clear cut points. You can "what if" it all day long but to not see the story for what it is because "What if he was Baptized" is just plain sad. There is a very real story, point, and potential to save souls. The bible is a living book and does NOT need to be expounded upon to make the story Valid.
