Gator
I love scenarios like this. Here is the RICHEST team in the league, the best that MONEY can buy, and yet the lose in 4 games to Cleveland. I love it!!!! What was really great was when the Yanks got beat by I think it was the Marlins or Devil Rays, can't remeber which, but at the time whoever it was was the LOWEST paid team in the league. Just goes to prove that money can't always buy championships
Master_Chief
In baseball the best thing for me is the Red Sox winning, so naturally the next best thing is the Yankees losing. Woohoo
MUDRUNNER
Yep,I love it!The Yanks just couldn't cash in.They had plenty of chances, just couldn't close the deal.I have to say the Indians look pretty solid.

buckbuster11
Also goes to show you, it doesn't matter how much offense you have, if you don't have jack for pitching....you aint winning.
VABuckSlayer
Also goes to show you, it doesn't matter how much offense you have, if you don't have jack for pitching....you aint winning. That's the key right there. Great pictching will beat great hitting more often then not. I'm hoping the Yankees go back to what won them Championships before. Younger talent. They have it with Cano, Milky, Phillips, Chamberlin, ect. They need to truct these guys and let them play. It sounds crazy but A-rod needs to go. As much as I love Torre I think it's time for some new blood. I would trade Abreu for a young pitcher as well. I think with the younger pitching staff coming up next year the Yankees will be a stronger team. The Yankees need an overhaul of some of the high paid vets! Tominator
Yep. Good ol' tribe had me up till 2 a.m. last night. Love it. Hope they can take the Sox now, but I think the Sox will be a lot tougher than the Yanks were.

rhine16
I hate the Yanks, but will hate to see Torre fired because "He cannot win a World Series". That man is one of the three best coaches in the game. It's not cause he hasnt done his job. Steinbrenner doesnt understand the game. Guest Finn
It warms my heart every year when the Yankees lose...next up, BoSox. Glad to see money alone can't buy championships.
TreeStandBowHunter
I love the fact that the Yankees lost. I believe that their Manager is losing too....The battle to stay in the Yankees uniform that is:D
Guest DocBars
Indians had a great series, great pitching and a offense that showed up.Yankees offense for the most part was a no show,Wang and the Rocket might as well stayed home. My son wasn't to happy but I told him 27 world championships was a plenty. We all know that the Yankees will be back. I hope the Indians can get themselve a worldseries title this year because we all know the Reds will win it all next year.LOL>........ Ohiobucks
Hope they can take the Sox now, but I think the Sox will be a lot tougher than the Yanks were. Anyone else hear Johnny's voice from the Major League movies when Chris talks about the Tribe? "Vile thing, you make my butt sting! I *detest* you! You're all garbage, all of ya! Back up the truck, back it up!" :D I've got to admit, this is the only time of year I actually watch baseball, and the Indians look pretty strong. CC is a machine. Lofton was clutch at the plate a number of times in that series. Really looking forward to the Beckett/Sabathia matchup this Friday.

VermontHunter
Even if Torre isn't the coach next season,, I bet he's still involved with the Yankee's organization is some way shape or form .. ;) He's to valuable to let go out right .. ;)
BowtechTurkeyHunter
LOL what exactly makes him valuable? ... I mean a coach that gets you to the show but can't finish ... seems to me the value is gone ... many many coaches are "valuable" and get let go all the time ... That's where Torre's value lies ..
TreeStandBowHunter
If his job is threatened like the paper says and like their own website says, I don't think he will be returning to the ball club at all even if it is another position. Most times you move up because of good things, not because of bad things. The owner is making this out ot be a bad thing so I cannot see him moving into a higher position after this. Of course I don't know much about baseball so I thought he was doing good things with the Yankees. I mean, when was the last time the Yankees were not a good team? Apparently, the owner doesn't think the same thing I do:D Bottom line is I think he is gone and never coming back....not within the Yankee org anyway;)
toddyboman
WHO CARES!!! I'm sick of hear about it. Its not enough for ESPN to talk about the Yankees all the time or play some stupid movie about them, but now we have to listen to this crap about their overrated manger..... There is 4 good teams still playing.... There is many other managers in the same position as Torre but we aren't discussing them..... Torre is gone....UNLESS A-Rod says otherwise. Steve That's why we are called fans,,, we can disagree all we want ... :D;) Torre is still one of the BEST coaches in baseball,, and that comes from Ortiz as well .. and I happen to agree with him.. Here's what had to be said as of Monday,, about a coach that you say has NO value left .. Since the Yankees' season ended Monday, New York players, politicians and even opponents have urged Steinbrenner to retain the affable 67-year-old New York native. Boston designated hitter David Ortiz was among the latest to speak out. "Every organization is like a human body. It has a head that if you mess with it, it just goes down," Ortiz said. "Joe Torre is the head of that organization. He's one of the best managers in baseball. You've got to have a good head to keep the body together like that." Ortiz credited Torre for helping the Yankees overcome a 21-29 start to make the playoffs as the AL wild-card team. "Even if they got knocked out, you've got to give him credit for that. You've definitely got to give the man respect," Ortiz said. "If he doesn't go back to the Yankees, they're going to feel that next year somewhere. This guy knows what he's doing." Interesting isn't it .. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3059389

Steve Ask the San Diego Chargers about that. They go 14-2 with Marty Schottenheimer last year but he gets canned because "he can't win in the playoffs". Now they are dead last in their division and tied with the Saints for the biggest disappointment in the NFL with the exact same players as last year.
